Original job description
CT Bakery is looking for a hands-on Quality Operations Manager to lead our Quality team and oversee the Sanitation function in a fast-paced bakery manufacturing environment.
This is a floor-focused leadership role for someone who understands that quality is more than documentation. You will spend significant time on the production floor, working with employees and supervisors, identifying issues, maintaining standards, and ensuring our operation is consistently audit-ready.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, coach, and hold the Quality team accountable.
- Oversee the Sanitation team and sanitation programs.
- Maintain a strong daily presence on the production floor.
- Monitor GMPs, food safety, product quality, sanitation, and compliance.
- Ensure quality and sanitation records are accurate, complete, and properly maintained.
- Identify issues, investigate root causes, and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Maintain continuous BRCGS audit readiness and support internal, customer, and third-party audits.
- Work closely with Production, Procurement, Maintenance, and Sanitation to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Ensure food safety programs, allergen controls, traceability, and quality procedures are consistently followed.
- Report significant quality, food safety, and sanitation concerns to senior management.
Qualifications:
- 3–5+ years of Quality / Food Safety experience in food manufacturing.
- Bakery or baked-goods manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Previous experience leading a Quality or QA/QC team.
- Experience with BRCGS, HACCP, GMPs, sanitation, allergen control, and traceability.
- Strong understanding of quality documentation, audits, and corrective actions.
- A hands-on leadership style with the ability to lead from the floor, not just from a desk.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and people-management skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment and holding teams accountable.
