Role Description
The Music Mixer takes Cuenion's scores from the composer's session to mix-ready music stems. Our music is rooted in contemporary classical writing, often combining live orchestral and chamber recordings with electronic elements, so this role calls for an ear that can give acoustic instruments space and detail while making the music work under dialogue and effects.
Recording & Mixing
- Mix original score and songs across stereo, 5.1, 7.1, and Dolby Atmos formats
- Engineer or assist on live instrument and ensemble recording sessions when required
- Balance acoustic and electronic elements to serve both the music and the picture
Stems & Delivery
- Prepare and print music stems to the specifications set by the Re-Recording Mixer and distributor
- Maintain organized sessions and consistent stem naming across revisions
- Deliver revised stems quickly when picture changes or notes come in
Collaboration
- Work closely with Cuenion's composers, Music Editor, and Re-Recording Mixer
- Coordinate schedules and deliveries with the Post-Production Coordinator
Qualifications
- Proven experience mixing music for film, television, games, or advertising (please include credits or a reel)
- Strong experience recording and mixing acoustic instruments, especially strings, winds, piano, and small ensembles
- Surround and Dolby Atmos mixing experience strongly preferred
- Understanding of how music stems are used on a dub stage
- An ear for contemporary classical music is a strong asset given Cuenion's compositional focus
- Based in Ontario (Ontario residency matters for our clients' provincial tax credit eligibility)
