Original job description

Build Your Career with a Company That Values Craftsmanship & Character

At Cunningham Sheet Metal (Windsor) Ltd., we don't just build metal projects, we build long-term careers. Since 1908, we've been known throughout the specialty metal and commercial/industrial HVAC industries for quality workmanship, integrity and reliability. Our team is built on seven core values:

Efficiency: we respect time and resources, and do things right the first time
Quality: our work reflects our name, on every job, big or small
Teamwork: we communicate openly and support each other to get the job done
Pride: we take ownership of what we build and how we build it
Confidence: we make decisions and stand behind our work
Humility: we ask questions, listen and keep learning
Dedication: we follow through for our customers and our team

Here, you won't be "just another number." You'll play a meaningful role in a growing, well-established company that values initiative and rewards performance.

The Role

We're looking for an Estimator / Project Manager to take custom fabrication projects from estimate through design, fabrication and installation. This is a technical, office-based role. You'll be the central point of communication between our customers, our drafting department and our shop, so the ability to clearly articulate project details, and make sure everyone is working from the same understanding, is essential to success in this position.

What You'll Do

Estimate and manage fabrication projects from start to finish
Meet with customers to design, quote and carry out tailored solutions
Clearly communicate project requirements, design intent and changes between the customer, drafting department and shop, so every party is working from the same accurate information
Prepare accurate material take-offs and calculate fabrication and installation labour
Order materials, making use of existing shop stock, and prepare jobs for shop release
Read, interpret and mark up blueprints and shop drawings
Coordinate schedules with suppliers and subtrades, such as powder coaters
Manage multiple projects at once while keeping everyone informed

What You Bring

Proven ability to clearly articulate technical information, both written and verbal, to customers, drafting staff and shop personnel
One of the following is required: Hands-on technical experience in sheet metal, HVAC, architectural metals or custom fabrication, or 3+ years of experience as an estimator or project manager in the sheet metal, HVAC, architectural metals or custom fabrication industry
Working knowledge of materials, gauges, finishes and fabrication methods
Comfort working in both imperial and metric
Strong math and computer skills
Ability to stay organized and manage multiple priorities
Flexibility for occasional overtime or weekend work
A fit with our core values: the confidence to lead a project, and the humility to ask questions when something isn't clear

What We Offer

Competitive wages based on experience
Vision and dental care
Vacation and paid time off
Long-term growth opportunities within a stable, respected company

If you're looking for a career, not just a job, and want to be part of a team that takes pride in what they build, we'd like to connect with you
