Original job description

Role/Title: Account Executive

Department: Sales

Location: Toronto

Salary Range: $60,000 – $70,000 CAD annual base salary

Who We Are

ZoomerMedia operates a diverse Canadian media portfolio across television, radio, print and digital. Through Curiocity Media Group (CMG), our digital brands include Daily Hive, blogTO, Curiocity, Dished, Offside, MobileSyrup, EverythingZoomer and titus/one.

CMG combines national reach with deep local connections. Across web, social, video, branded content, email and performance media, we help advertisers reach engaged audiences. Our Growth Sales team creates new revenue by identifying opportunities within assigned publications, territories and industries, then building partnerships around client business goals.

Who You Are

You are a proactive, commercially curious sales professional with a track record of creating opportunities and closing new business. You combine the drive of an outbound seller with the judgment of a consultant: you research the business, ask thoughtful questions and connect marketing investment to meaningful client outcomes.

You bring strong process discipline and embrace technology. You use research, AI and sales tools to improve targeting, preparation and follow-through while keeping outreach personal and accurate. You want to become an expert in your assigned brands and markets and develop first-time advertisers into repeat clients.

What You'll Do

This is a new-business-first role. The majority of your time will focus on prospecting, qualifying and advancing opportunities within your assigned publications, territories and verticals. You will own the sales cycle from first contact to close and work with delivery teams to support long-term account growth.

Build focused account and territory plans; identify emerging brands, underserved categories and other opportunities for incremental revenue.
Create qualified opportunities through consistent phone, email and LinkedIn outreach, supported by relevant meetings, networking and industry events.
Research target companies, buying signals and decision-makers; use prospecting and enrichment tools to build accurate, prioritized account lists.
Lead discovery to understand business goals, marketing gaps, target audiences, budget, decision-makers and timing; qualify the fit and agree on clear next steps.
Develop expertise in assigned CMG brands, audiences and products; recommend relevant combinations of social, content, video, branded media, email and performance marketing.
Build tailored proposals, explain investment and expected outcomes, handle objections, negotiate and close against monthly, quarterly and annual revenue targets.
Maintain accurate, same-day CRM records, ownership, pipeline values, stages and forecasts; check existing accounts and active opportunities before outreach to avoid conflicts.
Coordinate clear handoffs to campaign management, content, creative and paid-media teams, documenting client objectives, scope, deliverables and commitments.
Use campaign results and client feedback to identify repeat investment, recurring programs and account expansion opportunities.
Use approved AI and sales automation tools to improve research and follow-up; test and refine your approach through coaching, call reviews and weekly pipeline discussions.

How success is measured: net-new accounts and revenue, qualified pipeline creation, consistent targeted outbound, conversion through the sales cycle, repeat client investment, forecast accuracy and CRM discipline.

What You Have

Must-haves

Demonstrated success in outbound B2B sales or business development, including creating your own pipeline and closing new business against targets.
Ability to plan and execute consistent prospecting across phone, email and LinkedIn, with thoughtful targeting, personalization and follow-up.
Strong discovery, presentation, proposal-writing and negotiation skills; confidence engaging business owners, marketing leaders and other decision-makers.
Commercial judgment to translate client objectives into a relevant marketing recommendation and explain the value of the proposed investment.
Strong CRM habits, time management and forecasting discipline, with clear notes, next steps and accountability for progressing opportunities.
Comfort learning and using AI, research and sales technology; ability to verify information, exercise judgment and improve a repeatable sales process.
A resilient, coachable and results-oriented approach; ability to work independently, collaborate across teams and attend client meetings and industry events as needed.

Nice-to-haves

Experience selling digital media, advertising, branded content, sponsorships or marketing services, including programs across multiple channels.
Experience with CRM platforms such as Ad Orbit, Salesforce or HubSpot; familiarity with prospecting tools such as LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Apollo or HeyReach.
Experience developing an industry vertical or territory, building strategic account plans, or growing first-time clients into recurring partnerships.
Familiarity with AI assistants such as ChatGPT or Claude, Google Workspace, and campaign metrics across content, social, video, Meta Ads or Google Ads.
Post-secondary education in business, marketing or communications is an asset, but not required.

What We Offer

Structured onboarding, sales coaching and clear performance expectations to help you develop your market and build a sustainable pipeline.
The opportunity to develop expertise in trusted Canadian media brands and sell modern marketing solutions, supported by campaign management and specialist teams.
Flexible paid time off policy to ensure you're able to get the break you need and work at an optimized level.
Opportunity for both professional and personal growth.
Hybrid work environment.
Benefits package including dental, vision and extended health starting after 3 months.

We are committed to a fair and transparent recruitment process. ZoomerMedia does not use artificial intelligence to screen, assess, or make decisions regarding candidates. All applications are reviewed by members of our hiring team.
