Original job description

Cyclic Materials is building a resilient circular supply chain for rare earth elements and other critical materials. Through our fully integrated proprietary technology platform, we recover rare earths from end-of-life products and transform them into high-purity materials used to produce new permanent magnets. These magnets are critical to the modern economy, underpinning AI, automotive, e-mobility, electronics, semiconductor, energy, defense, and other advanced manufacturing sectors.

Founded in 2021, Cyclic Materials has rapidly become a category leader in rare earth recovery, achieving commercial operations in less than five years. We currently operate facilities in Ontario and Arizona, with further expansion underway in South Carolina. Backed by investment accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., alongside strategic investors including Microsoft, Amazon, Hitachi Ventures, BMW i Ventures, Jaguar Land Rover’s InMotion fund, Energy Impact Partners, ArcTern Ventures, and Fifth Wall, we are scaling quickly and building the industrial backbone required to meet growing global demand for a secure and sustainable supply of rare earths.

We have established an extensive and growing network of commercial partnerships with global industry leaders such as Solvay, Vattenfall, Lime, and VACUUMSCHMELZE, enabling the rapid deployment of recycled rare earth materials into real-world supply chains. Joining Cyclic Materials means tackling complex and exciting challenges at scale alongside a team committed to strong execution and measurable impact. If you are motivated by building critical infrastructure and advancing the circular economy, join us and help accelerate the growth of rare earth recycling.

Cyclic Materials is building a circular supply chain for rare earth elements and other critical materials. We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Toronto Finance team and help maintain accurate, timely financial records as the business grows.

Reporting to the Director, Finance, you will support day-to-day accounting and the monthly close across Cyclic entities, working with colleagues in Finance and with teams across the business. This role is suited to an early-career accounting professional who takes ownership of assigned work, asks good questions, and is ready to build broader accounting skills in a growing company.

What you will do

Prepare and post routine journal entries, accruals, and other month-end adjustments, with appropriate supporting documentation and review.
Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts, including bank, credit card, prepaid, fixed-asset, and intercompany balances; investigate differences and follow them through resolution.
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice coding, payment and collection follow-up, customer or vendor account reconciliations, and issue resolution.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities; maintain close schedules and deliver assigned work accurately and on time.
Review transactions for appropriate coding, approvals, supporting documentation, entity, and period; raise unusual or incomplete items for review.
Assist with cash, expense, and balance-sheet reconciliations and help maintain clear audit trails in the accounting system.
Support fixed-asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation schedules, and project-cost tracking.
Help compile information for Canadian tax filings, external audits, statutory reporting, and internal management reports, under the direction of senior Finance team members.
Use the ERP and spreadsheet tools to maintain accounting records and improve recurring schedules, documentation, and processes.
Partner with Finance colleagues and other departments to answer routine accounting questions and support consistent financial procedures.

What you bring

Formal Accounting qualifications, Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Three to five years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to general ledger accounting and month-end close; experience in a multi-entity or growing business is an asset.
Working knowledge of debits and credits, account reconciliations, accruals, and basic financial statements.
Proficiency in Excel, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables; experience with an ERP system is an asset.
Careful attention to detail, sound organization, and the ability to manage recurring deadlines and follow up on open items.
Clear written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, service-minded approach.
Integrity and good judgment when handling financial records and confidential information.
Prior experience working in manufacturing sector and publicly listed organizations is considered an asset.

Professional development

Progress toward a Canadian CPA designation is an asset. Cyclic Materials will support the successful candidate in building technical accounting knowledge, taking on greater ownership, and developing toward future roles in Finance.

CYCLIC MATERIALS • STAFF ACCOUNTANT

What will help you succeed

You take responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of your work and flag questions early.
You enjoy learning how accounting processes connect across teams and legal entities.
You are comfortable working through changing priorities while keeping close deadlines and control requirements in view.
You look for practical ways to make recurring work clearer, more reliable, and easier to review.
You are interested in Cyclic Materials’ work to keep critical materials in circulation and strengthen resilient supply chains.

Measures of success

Assist in the business day 5 month close process.
Assigned reconciliations and close tasks are complete, accurate, and on schedule.
Account differences and documentation gaps are identified, explained, and resolved or escalated promptly.
Accounting records are supported by clear, reviewable documentation.
Finance colleagues and business partners receive responsive, dependable support.
Recurring schedules and processes become more consistent and efficient over time.

Pay Range: $60,000 CAD - $75,000 CAD
