Original job description

As a Technical Expert, Engineering - EWIS Integrator, you will act as a technical authority, shape design strategy, and lead enterprise-level technical alignment and capability development. Your work will focus on the physical integration of electrical wiring interconnection systems, including 3D harness definition, components, supports, interfaces, and installation compliance.

What are your contributions to the team?

EWIS Design & Integration

  • Develop and review 3D EWIS harness proposals, routing, supports, component placement, assemblies, and installation and detail drawings.
  • Support the selection and integration of EWIS components, connectors, backshells, clamps, brackets, conduits, and protective devices.
  • Apply applicable separation and segregation, clearance, bend-radius, support-spacing, accessibility, maintainability, and environmental installation rules.

Electrical & Physical Interface Coordination

  • Coordinate the 3D installation with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness definition, equipment interfaces, and aircraft-zone constraints.
  • Work closely with harness manufacturers, electrical systems, structures, stress, interiors, methods, manufacturing, thermodynamics, safety, electromagnetic-effects specialists, mass properties, and other affected functions.
  • Resolve routing conflicts, interface discrepancies, installation-sequence issues, and producibility concerns with internal teams and partners.

Design Maturity, Compliance & Support

  • Review EWIS layouts, installations, assemblies, and detail definition for compliance with applicable design and certification requirements.
  • Provide technical solutions for design, manufacturing, supplier, test, and in-service issues, including root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Manage design changes, assess technical, cost, schedule, weight, and risk impacts, and maintain configuration data in the applicable PLM environment.

Level-specific contribution

  • Serve as a discipline technical authority for the most complex or high-impact integration matters.
  • Shape architecture and design strategy, resolve cross-program technical risks, and provide authoritative recommendations to leadership.
  • Develop organizational capability through governance, standards, mentoring, knowledge transfer, and external technical alignment.

How to thrive in this role?

Education & experience

  • Bachelor degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or another relevant engineering discipline, as appropriate to the role
  • Minimum 15+ years of relevant experience in aerospace engineering or a related industry.

Technical knowledge

  • Aircraft EWIS installation, 3D harness definition, and component integration
  • Separation and segregation rules, bend radius, support spacing, protection, accessibility, and environmental constraints
  • Electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness manufacturing, installation, and inspection considerations
  • EWIS certification fundamentals, engineering drawings, configuration control, and weight management

Tools & methods

  • CATIA V5, including applicable electrical workbenches, ENOVIA, and MS Office; knowledge of NX and Teamcenter is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of PLM, product definition, engineering change, and configuration management processes appropriate to the level.

Leadership & behavioural capabilities

  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication.
  • Collaborative approach with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Sound judgement, analytical problem-solving, organization, and accountability.
  • Ability to coordinate priorities and provide constructive technical guidance.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical decisions and mentor others.
