About Us

Daanaa is a Vancouver-based fabless power electronics and semiconductor company on a mission to build a simpler, efficient future in energy generation, storage, distribution, consumption, and management, for generations ahead. The company is in the early commercialization stages of deep tech power conversion and control technologies, offering innovative solutions to OEMs in multiple industries, including solar energy, electric vehicles, and data centers.

Daanaa's value is derived from its transformative Power Transaction Unit (PTU) that consolidates power electronic functions - from bi-directional conversion and amplification to management, transfer, diagnostics, and control - onto a single, high-power-density, high-efficiency, low-profile, scalable, reliable, and safe module. At Daanaa, we are building a world of Energy Untethered™.

We are growing here at Daanaa and are looking for a Hardware Engineering Manager to lead our hardware engineering team and drive the development of next-generation power electronics from concept through production. In this role, you will lead hardware development execution, build and develop a high-performing engineering team, and establish the processes and technical direction needed to deliver reliable, high-quality products at scale.

What You'll Do

  • Lead hardware development for power electronic, and power converters from concept through design, prototyping, validation, qualification, and product release with accountability for technical direction, execution, resources, priorities, and engineering risk, ensuring products meet performance, quality, and schedule objectives.

  • Plan and manage hardware engineering projects in alignment with Systems, Firmware, Project Management, and broader company objectives, proactively managing technical, resource, quality, and schedule risks.

  • Drive predictable execution across the hardware team by establishing clear priorities, ownership, milestones, and accountability for engineering deliverables.

  • Build, develop, and retain a high-performing hardware engineering team by recruiting top talent, providing technical mentorship, setting clear expectations, and supporting career growth.

  • Establish and continuously improve hardware engineering processes, ensuring consistent execution across projects while maintaining the speed and flexibility required in a high-growth environment.

  • Strong understanding of hardware reliability, system integration, test and validation, and product qualification. Working knowledge of DFM/DFT, compliance, quality, and manufacturing is valuable, but the primary emphasis is on leading hardware development and engineering execution.

  • Partner closely with System Architects, Product Management, Program Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and external partners to align technical decisions with customer needs and business objectives.

  • Drive a culture of engineering excellence, ownership, continuous improvement, and accountability across the hardware organization.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Power Electronic, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • 8+ years of progressive hardware engineering experience, including significant engineering management experience leading and developing hardware teams and owing complex product development programmes.

  • Experience in power electronics, power conversion, semiconductor-based power systems, or similarly complex high-power/high-voltage hardware is critical.

  • Technical understanding in power electronics and power conversion, with the technical judgment to design decision, PCB design, testing, manufacturing, ability to guide engineers through complex technical challenges, and conduct effective design reviews.

  • Proven experience leading hardware organisations and development programmes from concept and architecture through design, prototyping, validation, qualification, and product release with accountability for technical direction, execution, resources, priorities, and engineering risk.

  • Demonstrate success building, managing, and developing high-performing hardware engineering teams, including recruiting, mentoring, performance management, and career development.

  • Strong understanding of hardware reliability, system integration, test and validation, and product qualification. Working knowledge of DFM/DFT, compliance, quality, and manufacturing is valuable, but the primary emphasis is on hardware development and engineering execution.

  • Strong program and execution leadership, with the ability to define development plans, establish priorities and milestones, allocate engineering resources, and proactively manage technical and schedule risks in a fast-moving development environment.

  • Ability to balance product requirements and specifications, technical performance, reliability, cost, development risk, and time-to-market when making engineering decisions.

  • Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills, with experience partnering across Product, Program Management, Firmware, Systems, Supply Chain, and external partners.

  • Demonstrate success in a startup or high-growth technology environment where building scalable engineering processes and developing teams is critical.
