You will be part of a winning team, enabled by DBS, that is passionate about helping life science experts around the world get to answers they can trust.

Learn about the Danaher Business System which makes everything possible.

The Senior Electrical Engineer/Designer is responsible for leading the end-to-end development of analog and high-voltage power-supply modules and subsystems for SCIEX instruments, from requirements and architecture through detailed design, qualification, manufacturing transfer, and sustaining support. In this role, you will apply deep expertise in high-voltage electronics, magnetics, system integration, and risk-based engineering while providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams.

This position reports to the Analog Electrical Hardware Development Manager and is part of the R&D Department located in Concord, Ontario, Canada and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Translate instrument and system requirements into high-voltage power-supply concepts, technology roadmaps, architectures, control strategies, protection functions, and performance budgets.
  • Own the complete design lifecycle of analog and high-voltage power-supply modules, from requirements, analysis, and prototyping through design review, qualification, verification, documentation, and release.
  • Lead prototype builds, bring-up, characterization, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, subsystem integration, and risk-based testing to ensure performance, stability, safety, reliability, compliance, manufacturability, cost, and schedule objectives are met.
  • Provide technical leadership through design reviews, structured problem solving, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering, quality, manufacturing, supply chain, and external partners throughout development and commercialization.
  • Serve as technical authority for released modules, supporting manufacturing transfers, suppliers, obsolescence, nonconformances, yield and field-reliability issues, while applying DFM, DFT, derating, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and lessons learned.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Applied Science, or its equivalent. Master’s degree is an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant analog and high voltage power supplies design experience, including proficient high voltage transformers design and magnetics selection experience.
  • Extensive experience in testing and troubleshooting PCBA's.
  • Candidate must be proactive, results-oriented, self-motivated, and thrive as part of a larger team.
  • Proficiency in schematic entry tools (e.g., ViewDraw or OrCAD), analog simulation software (preferably PSpice or LTspice), and mathematical calculation software (Mathcad or MATLAB).

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Mechanical packaging and integration knowledge
  • Mixed signal design experience
  • Basic knowledge of physics and in particular optoelectronics
