Solutions Architect

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to join our bank client’s Retail Digital Banking team. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and designing end-to-end technology solutions supporting our bank client’s retail online and mobile banking platforms.

This role requires extensive experience in digital banking architecture, enterprise application integration, API design, cloud technologies, and modern technology platforms. The Solutions Architect will collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, engineering teams, security architects, and enterprise architecture teams to deliver secure, scalable, and customer-centric digital banking solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end solution architecture and technical design for bank’s retail online and mobile banking applications.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performing technology solutions.
• Design application architecture, microservices, APIs, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Architect integrations with core banking systems, payment platforms, customer information systems, and third-party financial services.
• Support digital banking capabilities, including account management, balance inquiries, transaction history, funds transfers, bill payments, and customer authentication.
• Define architectural standards, technology roadmaps, and solution design documentation.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to development and engineering teams.
• Ensure solutions meet security, privacy, regulatory, and compliance requirements applicable to financial services.
• Evaluate technology solutions and recommend improvements to system scalability, performance, availability, and resilience.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical challenges and ensure successful solution delivery.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in IT, with substantial experience in solution architecture or enterprise architecture.
• 5+ years of experience designing and architecting enterprise-scale digital banking or financial services applications.
• Strong experience with retail banking, online banking, or mobile banking platforms.
• Proven expertise in solution architecture, application integration, and distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices, API gateways, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Experience integrating digital banking platforms with core banking systems, payment services, and customer information platforms.
• Strong understanding of security architecture, identity and access management, authentication, authorization, and data protection.
• Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS.
• Knowledge of modern application architecture, event-driven architecture, and enterprise messaging.
• Experience preparing architecture diagrams, technical design documents, and solution architecture specifications.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Previous experience working with major Canadian financial institutions.
• Experience with retail banking products and services.
• Familiarity with banking regulations and compliance requirements, and applicable data privacy standards.
• Experience with AWS, Openshift, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with high-volume, customer-facing digital banking applications.
