Dawson Road Maintenance is looking for Labourers, who have a good knowledge of safety around equipment, an eagerness to learn, and a strong work ethic.
In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Road Maintenance, working in a temporary, full-time position of Labourer reporting to the Road Foreperson. We are currently hiring in Smithers, B.C. and may require some travel throughout our great province.

In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Road Maintenance, working in a temporary, full-time position of Labourer reporting to the Road Foreperson. We are currently hiring in Smithers, B.C. and may require some travel throughout our great province.
What Success Looks Like
- Must prioritize safety of self and others in all aspects of the job
- Work collaboratively with all team members to successfully complete tasks at hand.
- Ability to perform unskilled manual work requiring little previous training or experience but involving physical effort.
- Operate heavy equipment in all weather conditions, on public roadways in a safe and appropriate manner
- Follow direction of the Supervisor regarding daily production schedule and activities
- Maintains a daily activity of work in progress and status of completion
- Maintain proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment
- Complete all work reports and maintenance logs
- Stop, slow, and safely direct traffic through work or construction sites
- Give traffic control directions and signals clearly and precisely so that motorists understand their meaning
- Keep the flow of traffic moving with as few delays as possible
- Minimum two (2) years of road maintenance and/or construction experience
- Valid Class 1 preferred, or 3 Drivers license is required
- Two (2) years commercial driving experience is an asset
- BCCSA Traffic Control Ticket
- Experience in snow removal is considered an asset
- Knowledge of road construction materials, road construction processes and industry requirements
- Heavy Equipment Operating Certificate an asset
- Able to manage electronic reporting using tablets
- Minor equipment maintenance
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to work shift work

Responsibilities
Perform manual road maintenance and construction tasks, operate equipment safely in varied weather, and follow the supervisor’s daily work schedule. Direct traffic through work sites, maintain equipment, and complete activity reports and maintenance logs.
Requirements
At least two years of road maintenance and/or construction experience and a valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license are required. A BCCSA Traffic Control Ticket is required; commercial driving experience, snow removal experience, and a Heavy Equipment Operating Certificate are assets.
