Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Buyer II participates in the entire procurement life cycle including, but not limited to, procurement planning, requests for quotation, bid evaluations, negotiations supplier selection, expediting and other related procurement activities. Responsible for the procurement of equipment, materials and services for various projects. Possesses strong knowledge of electrical / mechanical codes and standards to perform tasks that may impact Health & Safety and Quality in the workplace.
This position is to fill an existing vacancy for approximately 9 months.
Hybrid option including onsite in Tiverton (Bruce Power), Kincardine (Administrative Office) and from home.
Salary Range: $76,080 - $114,120 per year.
Responsibilities
- Performs aspects of standard procurement responsibilities; including, review of customer contracts to identify quality and regulatory requirements relating to the procured products and services, preparation and review of purchase requisitions, and preparation and review of purchase orders to ensure customer and project quality and regulatory requirements are imposed on the supplier, analyzes proposals from suppliers, and arranges and expedites timely delivery of materials and services. Reviews and quantifies DBOMs from RFPs. 40%
- Identifies potential suppliers, obtains quotes, verifies supplier capabilities. Presents recommendations to lead/management for review and approval. 15%
- Communicates with the Contracts & Procurement Manager and project stakeholders when potential problems surface, to keep project leaders informed on possible changes to scheduled dates and/or deliverables. 15%
- Develops and maintains supplier relationships; negotiates for the best possible pricing, quality and service. 15%
- Communicates with supplier on non-conformance issues, escalates issues to the Contracts and Procurement Manager as needed. 10%
- Provides support through the procurement process to the Buyer I. 5%

- Effective interpersonal skills; able to interact positively with all levels inside and outside the organization
- Excellent skills utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to negotiate effectively
- Strong knowledge of electrical / mechanical codes and standards, including ISO, N299, N285
Minimum Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, or equivalent required from a respectable institute Required
- 3+ years 3-5 years of related procurement experience, with experience in the nuclear and/or construction sectors Preferred
- Experience in SAP Preferred
