Supply Chain Analyst
Department: Supply Chain
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Mississauga
Compensation: CA$70,000 - CA$80,000 / year
Description
The Role
We make accessories for devices that don't exist yet. By the time a new phone is announced, our case for it has already been through tooling, production, and freight, all paid for on a guess about a date nobody confirmed. That guess is a purchase order with real money on it and someone needs to own the analysis before it gets signed.
We're looking for a Supply Chain Analyst: the person who decides how many to manufacture, when to place the order, and where it needs to land. Someone who takes a launch date we don't control, a lead-time we can't shorten, and a forecast that's partly educated guesswork, then turns them into a number the company can build against.
That's the easy version. The real one has a hundred SKUs in flight at once, across our own site, retail shelves, and partners with their own launch calendars. Some of those SKUs share a mould, so they can't be built at the same time. Some share packaging, which is always the thing everyone's waiting on. And every week, something moves: a device date, a sample approval, a shipment, a retail order that doubled forecast overnight. When it does, you're the one who works out what it did to every other date and tells the people who need to know, before they plan around the wrong one.
That person is probably an analyst or planner at a consumer products company right now, running a forecast they don't quite trust through an ERP they didn't choose, with a spreadsheet they built themselves doing most of the real work. Maybe they're at a 3PL or a forwarder, watching clients make the same mistakes every peak season. Where they are doesn't matter much. What matters is whether they can make a number, defend it, and let go of it the day it's no longer true.
The Environment
Still here? Excellent. Here's some context on the Supply Chain part of our business.
We pay for product months before we sell it. On our own site, we can hedge that with timing: pre-orders, staggered drops, and a promised date. In retail, we can't. If the product isn't on the shelf the day the hardware comes out, there's no sale. So the forecast has to be good enough to build against with conviction. Your value isn't in shaving pennies off freight, it's making sure we don't lose the opportunity to feed insatiable demand across all our channels.
You sit between our factory and everyone who depends on it. Marketing, Industrial Design, Creative, Finance, Production, Retail, and Order Experience all plan against your dates. You own the workback schedule for every launch: the ideal day to place each PO, the last day you still can, and which team needs to recover time when that window closes. That schedule lives in a spreadsheet, and the spreadsheet is yours to maintain. If a date moves, the model should already know what it did to every other data point before anyone asks. When your number is right, nobody notices. When it's wrong, we're either sitting on stock nobody wants or out of the one thing everybody does, on the day they want it most.
Most of this job happens in writing. A purchase order, a factory update, a date change to a partner: all of it is an email or a Slack message, and an unclear one costs us time nobody has. That said, we're not looking for someone who is perfect. We're looking for someone who, when there's a problem, tells us first, with the reason and the detailed plan on next steps.
Let's see if you've got what it takes.
The Characteristics
-
Agile: A device date slips a week. A factory loses two. A retail order comes in that nobody forecasted. You rework the schedule the same day, tell every team what changed for them, and the POs still go out.
-
Analytical: You know where to find accurate landed costs and how to determine order quantities… and you know which of those two numbers you're less sure about. When you give an in-stock date, there's a model behind it.
-
Collaborative: Marketing knows when, Industrial Design knows what, Finance knows how much, and our factories know how fast. You turn that into one schedule everyone can see, and when two of them conflict, you resolve it before anyone plans on the wrong number.
-
Curious: You've asked our factories why the lead time is twelve weeks instead of six. You've traced a late shipment back to the packaging that held it up. You've tested whether ordering earlier actually helps or just ties up cash.
-
Demanding: On time means on time. To spec means to spec. A supplier who misses either hears about it the same day, in writing, with the date you now need.
-
Enthusiastic: You like the part of the job where every SKU is in stock on launch day and nobody outside your team knows how close it was.
-
Innovative: When the same bottleneck shows up every launch, you change the order, the sequence, or the timing until the bottleneck disappears.
-
Persistent: A rejected batch, a freight backlog, a packaging run that's a week behind the product it's meant to hold. Something always goes wrong, and you've already planned the recovery.
-
Reliable: When you say a PO lands on the 14th, it lands on the 14th. When it won't, people hear it from you first, with the reason and the new date.
The Responsibilities and Qualifications
The Responsibilities
In order to make a positive impact as part of our team, your focus in this role will be to:
- Demand planning and replenishment: order quantities and reorder points by SKU, based on forecast, sell-through, and our factory lead time.
- The forecasting models, including the part where Marketing describes a launch or a campaign and you turn it into a number the company can build against.
- The purchase order window for every product: the ideal date to place it, the last date you still can, and the escalation when that window is about to close.
- Every PO from placement to our shelf, through factories, forwarders, and customs brokers in between.
- Production sequencing where products share tooling, so commitments are scheduled in priority order and ship dates reflect what our factory can actually do.
- Upkeep of Retail and OEM partner orders from PO to delivery, including the forecast and replenishment conversations with those partners, and the allocation call on what each commitment leaves for D2C.
- The launch workback schedule, adjusted as Industrial Design and Creative deliverables move, with a plan for recovering days when they move too far.
- Working directly with our factories: learning their constraints, communicating ours clearly in writing, and deciding what gets manufactured first when they can't do everything at once.
- Product, pricing, and order data in the ERP and supplier sheets, accurate enough that other teams act on it without checking.
- Reporting on inventory position, delivery performance, and supply risk, built for people who don't live in the data and need to make a decision quickly.
The Qualifications
If you find a box you can't check, stop reading and look for a company who demands less from their Supply Chain team:
- A degree or diploma in Supply Chain, Business, or something adjacent.
- Three or more years in a supply chain or logistics analytics role.
- Expert-level in Excel and Google Sheets. You've built models and trackers that other teams rely on, and you know what happens when one of them breaks.
- Comfort inside an ERP. You don't need to have used ours.
- Clear written English & impeccable communication skills.
- The ability to hold a forecast, a PO status, and a launch date in your head at the same time and notice when one of them moves.
- Enough interest in phones, consoles, and the companies that make them to know a launch is coming before Marketing tells you.
