The DDRC is a non-profit, registered, charitable organization that began in 1952. What The Role Provides You

The DDRC hires passionate, driven individuals who live our values and can work independently. We offer a variety of on-the-job learning opportunities, competitive benefits, and a culture that supports work/life balance.

We offer semi-fixed schedules that may change based on agency needs, paid training, development, coaching, benefit plan, Health Spending Account (HSA), Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), Employee Referral Program, Wellness Plan, WCB, vacation days, free parking, mileage where applicable, statutory holidays, and Agency complimentary hours off per year.

As the Orientation Coordinator you will provide excellent customer service during recruitment and employee orientation.

Key Responsibilities

Promote the Mission and Vision of the Agency in a positive manner to encourage values among employees
Demonstrate a commitment to integrity and ethics
Show respect for and value all employees, contractors andsub-contractors for their diverse backgrounds, experience, styles, approaches and ideas
Collaborate with team leaders, managers and other stakeholders to review recruitment requirements, vacancies and strategies
Provide orientation and training to all new DDRC workers by following DDRC guidelines and processes
Ensure a consistent delivery of orientation and core training for all DDRC workers and external stakeholders to ensure quality support of clients
Remains current in terms of core training content and leads the research, design and delivery of new and existing courses as indicated by changing trends and needs
Respond to telephone, e-mail, and in-person recruitment inquiries for client supports from potential candidates and external parties
Match compatibility of applicants to available job vacancies and client support preferences
Responsible for full cycle recruitment efforts for all front-line staff: posting vacancies, recruitment, interviewing, hiring and reference checks, while following applicable legislation
Review and update customized interview guides, as required
Ensure orientation guidelines and processes stay current to the trends and requirements of the organization
Attend external and internal job fairs to promote the DDRC as an employer of choice
Provide honest, open, timely and accurate communication at all times to ensure all team members are kept up to date with relevant information
Ensure new employees, contractors and sub-contractors comprehend all policies and procedures at DDRC by referencing the Intranet and Policy Manual, provide additional support as required by individuals
Analyze and maintain recruitment trends vs. industry data and report on a quarterly basis
Ensures that all DDRC training materials carry appropriate branding as defined by the organizations communication policies
Maintain recruitment stats and provide reporting to leadership team weekly
Liaise with Training Coordinator to provide support and coverage, as required
Collaborate with Human Resources team on projects, as required
Complete other duties and projects as assigned by the Manager, Finance and HR

What You Bring To The Role

Takes accountability to ensure all mandatory certifications and training are kept current
An undergraduate degree in related field, or an acceptable combination of education and on-boarding experience
2+ Years of previous recruitment experience, not-for-profit experience is considered an asset
Able to write and format moderately complex correspondence, including memos, letters, etc.
Proficient in MS Office, with particular emphasis on Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent writing skills, including proper spelling, grammar and punctuation
Superior time management skills, multitasking skills and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
Knowledge of and understanding of applicable federal and provincial legislation as well as professional standards (e.g. Alberta Human Rights Commission, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act,regulation and code)
Experience in handling confidential and sensitive information
Exceptional, dynamic presentation and communication skills
Creating Excellence Together (CET) Accreditation experience within the disability sector, an asset
