About The Role
We are seeking a motivated student, co-op candidate, or recent graduate to join our QA team and gain practical experience in software quality assurance.
This is a part-time position requiring approximately 20 hours per week onsite. We welcome applications from third- and fourth-year Computer Science or Electrical Engineering undergraduate students, students seeking a co-op placement, and recent graduates beginning their careers in software quality assurance.
Reporting to the QA Manager, the Junior QA Specialist will work directly with software developers and other departments while receiving guidance in software life-cycle testing activities such as reviewing requirements, writing test plans, performing regression testing, identifying defects, and preparing clear defect reports.

How You Will Help
- Support software life-cycle testing activities, including reviewing requirements, writing and updating test cases, performing regression testing, identifying and logging defects, and preparing clear defect reports for transit products, with guidance from experienced team members
- Assist with reviewing software requirements and designs and identifying considerations that may affect testability
- Create, maintain, and execute functional test cases for our software products with support from the QA team
- Identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects
- Working closely with our Customer Service department to reproduce customer issues
- Working with software developers to ensure defects are correctly identified, fixed and incorporated into product builds
- Learn about and assist with DDS test automation activities based on your interests and current technical skills

Must Haves
- Currently enrolled in the third or fourth year of a Computer Science or Electrical Engineering undergraduate program, eligible for a co-op placement, or recently graduated from a related program
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, are required
- Basic understanding of software testing or QA concepts gained through coursework, personal projects, internships, co-op experience, or equivalent hands-on learning
- Interest in learning how software teams collaborate using Agile development practices
- Basic familiarity with SQL through coursework, projects, or practical experience, with a willingness to develop these skills
- Passionate about software quality
- Ability to document work clearly and willingness to learn DDS documentation practices
Nice-To-Have
- Exposure to REST APIs through coursework, projects, or previous experience
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, or similar collaboration tools is helpful but not required
- Interest in or introductory exposure to cloud technologies such as AWS
- Experience with test automation, or AI assisted testing
- Experience testing large scale software platforms, such as transaction processing systems, web applications, mobile applications,
