Original job description

WHAT ON EARTH IS DECIEM?

We are a collective of disrupters and doers, of creatives and scientists, with a mission to reimagine the world of beauty.

Since inception, our vertically integrated structure, including our own laboratories, manufacturing, retail stores, and brand infrastructure, have enabled us to rapidly identify opportunities and deliver quality. Home to The Ordinary, NIOD, AVESTAN, and other emerging brands, our goal is to create with purpose. We were founded on the principle of doing everything that others don’t. Because normal gets you nowhere.

We are DECIEM, The Abnormal Beauty Company.

We are growing rapidly and we’re looking for someone who shares this vision and wants to grow with us!

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The Intermediate Videographer & Content Creator role will own and execute video production and post-production across DECIEM’s global brand portfolio, with a primary focus on New Product Launches (NPLs) and regional content execution, including Asian markets. Working with high technical precision and creative autonomy, this role is responsible for conceptualizing, shooting, and editing elevated motion assets across social, digital media, web, and paid channels (including 9:16 vertical video and short-form formats). The incumbent will partner directly with Senior Videographers, Art Directors, Social Media, and Brand teams to translate product science and visual guidelines into concise, visually compelling video stories. Beyond camera operation and editing, this role manages on-set lighting and audio, motion graphics/supers, color grading, digital asset management, and sporadic travel requirements while upholding strict brand standards.

This is a hybrid role based 3 days onsite out of our Toronto office. It is a 12 month contract position.

To be considered for this role, you must submit your online portfolio for review.

WHAT YOU'D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE

New Product Launches & Motion Content Execution

Serve as a video lead for New Product Launches (NPLs), creating short-form and long-form motion assets that communicate product benefits, ingredient technology, and formulation science.
Conceptualize, shoot, and edit elevated video content across social media (TikTok, Instagram Reels), digital media, website PDPs, and paid advertising channels.

Global & Regional Content Production

Develop, shoot, and edit tailored video assets for global campaigns and key regional projects, including specialized content execution for Asian markets.
Partner with regional creative teams and local stakeholders to adapt campaign stories and NPL briefs for regional platform formats and aesthetic preferences.

Technical Videography, Lighting & On-Set Operations

Operate professional video camera systems (DSLRs, mirrorless, cinema cameras), continuous/strobe lighting setups, and multi-channel audio recording equipment.

Post-Production, Motion Graphics & AI Concepting

Edit raw footage into concise, visually compelling video stories using Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro.
Design and integrate on-screen text overlays ("supers"), motion graphics, subtitles, and closed captions in accordance with brand typography and styling rules.

Creative Collaboration & Workflow Management

Maintain ongoing alignment with Social Media, Brand, and Creative Design teams to ensure video deliverables meet campaign objectives and technical specs.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE

3+ years of professional video production and editing experience (in-house or agency), supported by a portfolio or reel demonstrating commercial video and editing work.
2+ years of hands-on experience executing video content for Asian brand projects or regional Asian markets.
Demonstrated experience creating social media video content for cosmetics, skincare, CPG, or tech brands.
Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar); working knowledge of Adobe After Effects is an asset.
Ability and willingness to travel sporadically for global production projects, regional shoots, and international market activations.
Mastery of video equipment, including camera systems (DSLRs, cinema cameras), studio lighting setups, and audio recording gear.

WHAT YOU'LL BE GAINING BY JOINING OUR TEAM

There’s a lot of good stuff that comes along with being a DECIEM team member. Here’s a few of our favourite perks and benefits, in no particular order…

Generous Vacation & Personal Days, plus additional time off for volunteering in your community, voting, peaceful protesting, celebrating your birthday, and more.
6 months of paid time off for new parents (inclusive of all genders).
Work from anywhere 4 weeks per year.

Summer Friday’s - get off at 1pm all summer long! (for applicable roles).
A dog-friendly office (and lots of cute dogs to play with).
Unlimited access to an Employee Assistance Program that includes mental health care, mindfulness programs, and more.
Access to Development Grants & a LinkedIn Learning membership to help you keep growing and learning.
A generous discount on DECIEM products for you, your family, and your friends.
