Technical Specialist, Real Property Management (Real Property Spatial Projects Coordinator)

Coordinate the projects that put Canada’s defence infrastructure on the map.

Behind every base, building and piece of infrastructure that supports the Canadian Armed Forces is a wealth of spatial data waiting to be organized, connected and put to work. We’re looking for a driven, collaborative coordinator to bring project teams and stakeholders together and turn ambitious spatial data initiatives into reality. If you thrive on leading complex projects, building strong relationships and delivering work that truly matters, this is your opportunity to shape how the Department of National Defence manages its real property.

Why you’ll love working here

At DCC, you’ll get the chance to learn, excel and engage in genuinely meaningful work. We’re big enough to take on multi-million-dollar projects, yet small enough to deliver personal service, which means your ideas are heard and your contribution is visible. Every DCC employee makes a difference by supporting Canada’s troops and contributing to the defence of the country.

Purpose-driven work that directly supports the women and men who serve Canada.
An award-winning, inclusive culture (EEAA winner, Gold Seal Employer, and PAIR Committed).
A team that treats diversity as a strategic advantage.
Room to grow your expertise in a specialized, future-focused field.

The Role

As part of our multi-disciplinary Spatial Data Services Program, you’ll support the real property data lifecycle for the Canadian Armed Forces and the Department of National Defence. Working hand-in-hand with our client-partner’s project management office, you’ll coordinate project teams, engage stakeholders, develop strategic plans and report on progress, developing innovative solutions and processes that keep everyone moving forward together.

While every coordinator shares the same core mission, you’ll be assigned one of two primary focus areas:

Stream 1 – Capabilities: coordinate internal initiatives that advance data maturity, system capabilities, governance, spatial community engagement and business information outputs.
Stream 2 – Acquisitions: work with stakeholders and project teams to establish a coordinated, integrated approach to industry-procured spatial data acquisition projects and related professional services (contract management and procurement experience is a strong asset).

What You’ll Do

Lead complex real property project work, spatial data guidance, technical reviews, strategic and development plans.
Research, analyze and develop major spatial-data policies, standards, processes, directives and performance indicators.
Generate statements of operational requirements, prepare business cases and conduct investigations.
Build strategic frameworks, change management analyses and project plans that drive spatial initiatives, stakeholder engagement and communications.
Develop and manage real property data projects that boost data maturity, system capability and new technology integration.
Create information management strategies and tools to track and report on project requirements.
Support business development, manage risk and nurture strong relationships across DCC, industry and client-partners.

What You’ll Bring

You’re a confident project leader who enjoys untangling complexity and bringing structure to it. You’re at ease working with diverse project teams, you know how to keep stakeholders aligned, and you speak the language of spatial data.

Knowledge of best practices, methods, trends and legislation in real property data management.
Familiarity with geomatics: Building Information Modelling (BIM), Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and/or Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
A solid grasp of project and risk management principles, tools and techniques.
The ability to provide functional direction and advice to employees and client-partners.

The Qualifications

Minimum: a college diploma in land use planning, engineering, architecture, facility/property management, project management, data sciences, architectural technology, civil technology, geomatics, computer sciences or a related field, with five years’ relevant experience – or the equivalent.
Preferred: a university degree in one of the above fields and/or additional project management training. A professional certification may be required depending on the position (e.g. Certified Engineering Technologist, Registered Professional Planner, Real Property Administrator or Facilities Management Administrator).

Working conditions

Primarily a typical office environment with occasional travel.
Some work may take place on construction sites, where basic safety equipment may occasionally be required.
