If you are curious, innovative, and motivated by solving complex problems in an evolving insurance industry, we want to hear from you. Our Canadian Property & Casualty (P&C) actuarial practice is growing rapidly, and we are looking for experienced professionals to help lead high-impact engagements across reserving, capital, pricing, risk management, regulatory matters, and insurance audit.

This role is designed for actuarial professionals who combine deep P&C insurance expertise with a practical, technology-driven approach to delivering actuarial and transformation services.

Joining Deloitte offers the opportunity to work on industry-defining engagements, collaborate with leading insurers and regulators, and play a meaningful role in shaping the future of actuarial practice through advanced analytics, automation, and artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled solutions.

What will your typical day look like?

As a Manager, you will lead and deliver complex actuarial engagements for Canadian P&C insurers, reinsurers, captives, and public-sector entities. Your responsibilities will include:

Client Delivery and Technical Leadership

  • Lead actuarial consulting engagements in reserving, pricing, capital modelling, reinsurance, risk management, and regulatory reporting, including IFRS 17, OSFI, MCT, ORSA, and statutory valuation.
  • Serve as a technical leader on insurance audit and assurance engagements, including independent reviews of provisions/reserves, models, methodologies, assumptions, and governance frameworks.
  • Provide expert advice on pricing practices, model risk management, actuarial governance, and control environments, including documentation, validation, and use-test alignment.
  • Support clients through complex regulatory interactions with OSFI, the AMF, and provincial regulators, including remediation, supervisory findings, and model approvals.
  • Develop and review actuarial methodologies that reflect Canadian P&C market practices, emerging risks, and evolving regulatory expectations.

Technology, Automation and Advanced Analytics

  • Design and implement automated and agentic actuarial workflows for reserving and pricing, from data ingestion through diagnostics, reconciliation, and reporting, using proprietary and open-source actuarial software solutions.
  • Apply process automation and low-code/no-code tools to improve the efficiency, auditability, and repeatability of actuarial processes.
  • Leverage AI, machine learning, and generative AI tools and approaches to enhance actuarial analysis, documentation, control testing, and insight generation, in accordance with responsible AI principles.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and technology specialists to deliver cloud-based actuarial solutions using Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud, including scalable pricing, reserving, and capital modelling platforms.

Team Leadership and Firm Development

  • Inspire, coach, and mentor actuarial professionals, supporting their technical development, career progression, and the quality of engagements.
  • Review deliverables to ensure technical excellence, robustness, and compliance with professional standards.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders.

Thought Leadership and Market Relevance

  • Stay at the forefront of Canadian and global P&C insurance trends, including climate and catastrophe risks, social inflation, emerging coverages, reinsurance market dynamics, and regulatory changes.

About The Team

You will join Deloitte Canada’s Actuarial practice, a national team of more than 70 actuarial professionals across Property & Casualty (P&C), Life Insurance, and Retirement, working closely with Deloitte’s global actuarial network of more than 1,000 actuaries across over 40 countries.
