What will your typical day look like?

As a Senior Manager within Deloitte's Commercial Due Diligence (CDD) practice, you will play a critical leadership role advising private equity investors, corporate acquirers, government and portfolio companies on strategic transactions and growth investments.

You will lead buy-side and sell-side commercial due diligence engagements, helping clients evaluate market attractiveness, competitive dynamics, customer demand, growth opportunities, and risks that influence investment decisions. Working directly with Partners, Directors, investment professionals, and executive management teams, you will shape investment theses, challenge assumptions, and provide fact-based insights that support transaction decision making.

In addition to due diligence, you will help clients identify post-close value creation opportunities, accelerate growth, and enhance investment returns through commercial strategy and market-focused initiatives.

As a Senior Manager, you will be accountable for end-to-end engagement delivery, client relationship management, business development, practice leadership, and team development.

Responsibilities:

Lead buy-side and sell-side commercial due diligence engagements across a broad range of industries, serving as a trusted advisor to private equity sponsors, infrastructure investors, and corporate clients and government. Develop and test investment hypotheses relating to market attractiveness, customer demand, competitive positioning, growth prospects, and commercial risks.
Lead analyses of market size, growth outlook, customer segmentation, industry trends, pricing dynamics, competitive landscapes, and regulatory considerations. Translate findings into clear implications for investors and management teams.
Design and oversee primary research programs including customer interviews, expert interviews, competitor assessments, channel discussions, and market surveys. Leverage research and analytics to validate growth projections, customer retention assumptions, and market opportunities.
Identify and quantify growth opportunities, market expansion initiatives, pricing optimization opportunities, customer acquisition strategies, and other commercial value creation levers. Support clients in developing actionable plans for value realization following transaction close.
Manage large, complex transaction engagements while maintaining accountability for scope, economics, delivery quality, and client satisfaction. Develop trusted relationships with private equity professionals, corporate executives, investment committees, and management teams.
Lead proposal development, client pursuits, and business development activities while strengthening Deloitte's relationships with private equity sponsors, corporate development teams, investment banks, and other transaction market participants.
Contribute to Deloitte's Commercial Due Diligence methodology, market eminence, research assets, thought leadership, and commercial diligence intellectual property. Support the growth and expansion of the Canadian practice.
Develop and mentor high-performing professionals through coaching, project leadership, recruiting, performance management, training, and career development initiatives.
Partner closely with Deloitte's Financial Due Diligence, Tax, Value Creation, Technology Due Diligence, Human Capital Due Diligence, Integration & Separation, and M&A Strategy teams to deliver integrated transaction advice.

Our Commercial Due Diligence practice helps investors and corporate clients make informed transaction decisions by evaluating markets, customers, competitors, growth opportunities, and strategic risks.

The team supports private equity firms, infrastructure investors, family offices, government and corporate acquirers across buy-side and sell-side transactions and in evaluating different growth scenarios. Our work spans commercial due diligence, growth strategy, market intelligence, customer insights, value creation, and strategic planning.

We work across a broad range of industries including consumer, retail, healthcare, technology, manufacturing, business services, transportation, energy, financial services, and industrial markets. The practice regularly collaborates with Deloitte's global Commercial Due Diligence network and sector specialists to provide clients with deep industry insights and differentiated perspectives.

You are someone who has:

8-12+ years of experience in commercial due diligence, strategy consulting, growth strategy, private equity, corporate development, market intelligence, investment banking, or related advisory experience.
Proven experience leading commercial due diligence engagements and managing client relationships.
Strong understanding of private equity investment processes, transaction dynamics, and value creation principles.
Experience evaluating market attractiveness, competitive positioning, customer behavior, growth opportunities, directing and synthesizing primary and secondary market research.
Executive-level communication and presentation skills, including development of board-level and investment committee materials.
Proven ability to build trusted relationships with clients.
Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
Experience managing multiple concurrent engagements in fast-paced and deadline-driven environments.
Passion for helping build a growing commercial diligence practice and developing next-generation transaction professionals.
Ability to strategically leverage Deloitte-approved AI, analytics, and research tools to enhance diligence quality and delivery efficiency.

Preferred Experience

Private equity transaction experience.
Buy-side and sell-side commercial due diligence experience.
Experience contributing to business development and revenue growth initiatives.

Total Rewards

The salary range for this position is $126,000 - $234,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
