About Denman Athletics
Denman Athletics is a coaching-first strength and conditioning studio located in Vancouver's West End. We specialize in small-group personal training, combining high-quality coaching, structured training, accountability and a strong sense of community.
We're a growing, owner-led business with a loyal membership, a dedicated coaching team and ambitious plans for the future.
We're looking for an experienced Studio General Manager to lead our day-to-day business operations, manage our front-of-house team and play a key role in driving membership growth.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who is commercially minded, enjoys working with people and knows how to take ownership of a business.
You'll work directly with the owners, have genuine responsibility for decisions and results, and help shape the next stage of Denman Athletics.
The Role
As Studio General Manager, you'll be responsible for ensuring the studio operates efficiently, our members receive an exceptional experience and our team is supported to perform at its best.
You'll be a visible presence during key training hours, while also having dedicated time to focus on sales, business development, team leadership and operational improvements.
We're looking for someone who takes initiative, makes sound decisions and follows through without needing constant direction.
Key ResponsibilitiesSales & Membership Growth
- Manage the sales process from initial enquiry through consultation, conversion and onboarding.
- Build relationships with prospective members and confidently convert enquiries into memberships.
- Maintain an organized sales pipeline, ensuring timely follow-up and identifying opportunities for growth.
- Monitor sales performance and work with the owners to achieve membership growth goals.
Studio Operations & Member Experience
- Oversee daily studio operations, maintaining high standards of organization, presentation and service.
- Manage memberships, payments, scheduling and member accounts.
- Ensure a seamless onboarding experience and proactively support member engagement and retention.
- Develop and improve operational systems, processes and procedures.
- Coordinate facility maintenance, suppliers and general studio requirements.
Team Leadership
- Lead, support and hold our front-of-house team accountable to clear standards.
- Manage staff schedules, coverage, recruitment and onboarding.
- Provide regular feedback and help build a positive, professional and high-performing team culture.
- Work collaboratively with the coaching team to deliver an exceptional member experience.
Business Performance & Community
- Track key metrics, including membership growth, lead conversion, retention and attendance.
- Provide regular performance updates and recommendations to the owners.
- Monitor operational expenses and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Coordinate member events, community initiatives and support marketing activities.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in an operations, general management or business leadership role, including responsibility for staff.
- Proven experience in consultative or service-based sales, with the ability to demonstrate results.
- Experience managing team performance, schedules and operational standards.
- Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Confidence using Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, booking systems and CRM software.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage competing priorities.
An advantage, but not essential:
- Experience in fitness, wellness, hospitality or another service-based business.
- Experience in a membership-based business.
- Experience recruiting, onboarding and developing staff.

Working Hours
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position requiring flexibility to support our busiest training periods.
Your schedule will include a combination of early mornings (some starting at 5:30 a.m.), evenings (some finishing around 8:00 p.m.), daytime administrative hours and occasional Saturdays or member events.
Schedules will be planned in advance, with working hours varying according to operational needs.
This is not a fixed Monday-to-Friday, 9-to-5 position.
