Original job description

ABOUT DESIGNED

Designed Securities Ltd. is a truly independent investment dealer, and member of the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO). Our company is uniquely positioned to provide support driven by the needs of advisors. We design customized experiences for advisors and clients and have integrated Fintech that is based on real feedback, a culture of inclusion and progressive thinking. Our goal is to help evolve an advisor’s practice in light of Fintech, regulatory framework, and client needs. We are not controlled by any larger institutions and have the flexibility to serve our advisors and develop our staff in ways that are meaningful and long lasting. Staff are provided autonomy and authority to make decisions that drive the firm forward and we create an unmatched experience for our advisors. We are unique, motivated, and designed to do great – at work and in life.

CULTURE AND VALUES

We know that happy employees make all the difference in keeping advisors, and their clients, happy. Our culture is built on the pillars of inclusion, collaboration, accountability, and self-awareness. What excites us is seeing a group of talented people drawing on each other’s strengths, taking responsibility for making things happen, and contributing their voices and ideas to continue to design who we are. We are incredibly ambitious as an organization and seek people who are excited to commit to this opportunity.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a talented, imaginative, and versatile Graphic & Creative Designer to join our growing marketing team. We're looking for someone who combines strong design fundamentals with fresh ideas, creative curiosity, and a passion for visual storytelling.

Working closely with our marketing and business development teams, you will bring our brand to life through compelling visual content across digital, print, social media, events, and other marketing channels. This is a hands-on, collaborative role for someone who thinks beyond the creative brief, brings original ideas to the table, and can take projects from concept through production.

This is a hybrid position requiring candidates to be based in Ontario, with the ability to work from our Toronto or Peterborough office approximately two days per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Graphic Design & Visual Content Creation

Design engaging, on-brand creative assets for digital and print applications, including brochures, presentations, advertisements, social media, email campaigns, websites, and other marketing collateral.
Develop original creative concepts, visual identities, and layouts that bring ideas to life and translate complex information into compelling visual content.
Maintain and evolve brand guidelines, templates, and visual assets to ensure consistency across channels.

Photography, Videography & Multimedia

Plan, capture, and edit photography and video for corporate events, advisor testimonials, interviews, marketing campaigns, and digital platforms.
Produce short-form video, motion graphics, and multimedia content optimized for social media and other marketing channels.
Collaborate with external creative partners on larger productions, as needed.

Creative Production & Collaboration

Manage multiple creative projects from concept to completion, including preparing production-ready files for digital and print.
Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to develop creative solutions, incorporate feedback, and meet deadlines.
Explore emerging design trends, technologies, and AI-assisted tools to enhance creativity and production efficiency.
Maintain organized design files, templates, and digital asset libraries.

WHAT YOU BRING

We are looking for a creative thinker with strong technical skills, an eye for design, and the confidence to bring new ideas forward. The ideal candidate will have:

3+ years of professional experience in graphic design, creative design, or visual communications, supported by a strong portfolio showcasing original design, photography, and video work.
A diploma or degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Canva, and familiarity with tools such as Figma.
Hands-on photography and videography experience, including shooting, lighting, composition, and post-production.
Proficiency in video editing and motion graphics using Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom, or comparable software.
Strong design fundamentals, including typography, layout, colour, composition, and visual storytelling across digital and print applications.
Strong conceptual thinking, creative problem-solving, and the ability to develop and execute original ideas.
Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and incorporate feedback.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience or familiarity with the following would be considered an asset, but is not required:

Education or training from OCAD University or a comparable art and design institution.
Experience with website design, UI/UX, or digital prototyping.
Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools and emerging creative technologies.
Experience in illustration, animation, or other specialized creative disciplines.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

High-quality, original creative content that consistently strengthens Designed's brand identity across marketing channels.
Graphic design, photography, video, and multimedia projects are delivered on time and support marketing and business objectives.
Fresh ideas, emerging technologies, and collaborative creative solutions that help evolve Designed's visual identity and marketing effectiveness.

WHY JOIN US?

At Designed, we are independent, collaborative, and built to support advisors and clients in meaningful ways. We value inclusion, collaboration, accountability, and self-awareness. This is a newly created role with the opportunity to shape the compliance function, influence how the firm operates, and contribute directly to the continued evolution of our business.
