Original job description

Why Deveraux

At Deveraux, we’re more than a rental developer. We’re builders of community, connection, and opportunity. With over $2.5 billion in managed assets across Western Canada, we’ve been recognized as Platinum Status with Canada’s Best Managed Companies for our innovation, growth, and commitment to creating thriving communities.

We specialize in the design, development, construction, and management of purpose-built apartment communities. Thanks to our vertically integrated model, we manage every stage of a project’s lifecycle, from conception to construction to long-term operations. This structure encourages collaboration across all departments and gives our team the chance to contribute meaningfully at every step.

Our developments are thoughtfully designed to be sustainable and forward-thinking, consistently exceeding national energy standards. But our impact goes beyond the buildings. We believe in giving back through donations, volunteerism, and mentorship, because responsible development includes supporting the communities around us.

At Deveraux, our culture is rooted in accountability, integrity, excellence, and collaboration. We’ve created an inclusive environment where innovation is encouraged, and every voice is heard. With access to leadership, strong mentorship, and continuous development opportunities, this is more than a workplace. It is a place where you can grow, make a difference, and be part of something meaningful.

The Opportunity

The role of Field Support Technician is a hands-on, field-based position supporting Deveraux's in-house smart access control platform, across our residential portfolio in Calgary and Edmonton, with travel to support the launch of our new Toronto sites. Based in Calgary, this position works closely with our software development team, property management staff, and third-party vendors as the first point of contact when access control, hardware, or network issues arise on site. The main goal of this position is to triage and resolve issues quickly, escalating to the software team when needed, while also supporting device programming, site rollouts and retrofits, inventory, and staff training.

What we offer...

Attractive compensation package that is competitive in the industry
Comprehensive benefits program comprising life, long-term disability, and extended medical, dental, and vision coverage after 3 months.
Registered retirement savings plan (RRSP)
Phone allowance

What you bring...

Formal Education or Equivalent

Diploma or certificate in Information Technology, Network or Computer Systems Technology, Electronics (or related field), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Years of Experience

2-4 years in field technical support, IT support, or access control / security systems roles (preferred).
Hands-on experience programming, setting up, or troubleshooting access control hardware such as controllers, fob readers, electronic locks, gateways, and intercoms.
Experience diagnosing on-site network issues, including switches, routers, ISP modems, PoE, and cabling.
Experience administering or supporting mobile apps or cloud-based (SaaS) platforms.
Experience in a customer-facing support role, including logging, tracking, and reporting issues through to resolution.

Specialized skills, knowledge or certifications unique to this role

Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (e.g. TCP/IP, DHCP, Wi-Fi, PoE).
Strong, methodical troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and network issues.
Ability to explain technical issues clearly to software developers, vendors, and non-technical staff.
Comfortable testing new software features and documenting findings.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail for inventory and issue tracking.
Ability to work independently and manage priorities across multiple sites.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Teams, Outlook, Excel).
Valid driver's license and a clean driver's abstract plus own vehicle insurance.
Able to perform physical work, including lifting, using ladders, and working in parkades and outdoors in winter conditions.
Willingness to travel frequently between Calgary and Edmonton and periodically to Toronto.
Availability for occasional after-hours / on-call support.

You will...

Serve as the first point of contact for on-site access control, hardware, and network issues across the Calgary and Edmonton portfolio.
Triage and resolve issues in the field, escalating to the software team with clear documentation when needed.
Diagnose basic network problems on site, including switches, routers, residents' ISP modems, PoE, and cabling.
Monitor the ResiLync Teams support channels and answer staff questions.
Log, track, and report every issue until it is resolved.
Provide regular status updates on site issues to the ResiLync team.

Device Programming, Rollouts & Testing

Program, set up, and test devices (locks, controllers, gateways, intercoms, readers) using the ResiLync app.
Help with new site rollouts and retrofits, including setting up our new Toronto site.
Test new features and support software releases on site.
Run inventory, including counts, transfers between sites, and resolving shortfalls.

Training & Documentation

Train property and maintenance staff on ResiLync devices and processes.
Keep staff manuals, guides, and notices up to date.

Additional Information

You must be legally eligible to work in Canada (e.g., be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or possess a valid work permit) and provide a satisfactory Criminal Background Check.

The Deveraux Group of Companies is an Equal Opportunity employer. We foster a diverse and inclusive workplace where individuals, regardless of disability, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, race, colour, religion, age, nationality, or ethnic origin, have equitable access to employment, professional opportunities, and advancement. Our recruitment practices are merit-based, ensuring that every candidate is evaluated fairly based on their qualifications, skills, and potential to positively impact our team. Embracing diversity is integral to our organizational ethos, creating a culture where diverse perspectives contribute to our ongoing success and drive innovation.

We kindly ask that applicants refrain from calling regarding job postings. All applications must be submitted online.
