Job Title: Risk Analyst III

Duration: 6 months (possibility of extension/conversion)

Location: Toronto, ON (4 days onsite/week)

Overview

The Market Risk and Counterparty Analytics area is part of the Corporate Risk Management function. The teams are accountable for Market Risk, Counterparty Credit Risk, and Collateral activities related to the organization’s global trading activities.

The teams support trading and non-trading business initiatives, inform a range of risk management decisions, and facilitate business by managing evolving front-office needs while ensuring appropriate capture and control of risk.

The Counterparty Risk Analytics team is responsible for activities related to the quantitative analysis of credit risk, policy implementations, and exception management across a number of trading and non-trading businesses.

Job Description

An Analyst within the Credit Exception Management team will primarily focus on the analysis, reporting, investigation, and monitoring of risk exposures, ensuring they are in accordance with established counterparty credit limits.

The incumbent is expected to execute infrastructure changes related to new or revised credit facilities.

The role involves close partnership and interaction with a wide range of areas, including Credit Risk Management, Global Markets Credit, Market Risk Control, Front Office, Audit, Technology, and Change Delivery. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are therefore essential.

Typical Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Manage Counterparty Credit Risk by investigating and escalating credit excesses at the facility level.
Generate accurate and complete processes to measure and report exposures, ensuring all reports are submitted according to reporting guidelines.
Ensure risks within covered portfolios are correctly measured, aggregated, and analyzed in accordance with established and approved CAIRO counterparty limits.
Provide analysis, reporting, and monitoring of risk exposures and adhere to internal standards regarding violations and escalation of production issues.
Ensure all late or missing reports and related process metrics are recorded, documented, and appropriately explained.
Propose, schedule, plan, and champion projects to improve efficiencies and provide more effective business support.
Execute infrastructure changes related to the implementation of new or revised policies and processes.
Ensure internal control processes are adequate and appropriately documented according to governance standards, including reviewing and assessing the quality of outputs.
Manage operational risk, including cross-training, documentation, and audit.
Liaise closely with Front Office Traders, Credit Risk Management, Global Markets Credit, Audit, Technology teams, and other stakeholders.
Perform ad-hoc analyses of specific metrics, exposures, and transactions as required by management and stakeholders.
Maintain a good understanding of the analytical principles underlying the risk management of financial derivatives, including issues arising from the financial modeling of products for risk purposes.
