Location: Toronto, ON or Montreal, QC
Work Model: Hybrid – currently 2 days in office, transitioning to 4 days in office next year
Contract: 1 year, with potential for extension and conversion

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Software Developer V to join a collaborative technology team supporting software development, project delivery, and day-to-day application support within a large financial services environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new solutions and features, supporting existing applications, implementing enhancements and break/fix changes, participating in code reviews, and collaborating closely with internal technology teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on developer who enjoys working across backend and frontend technologies, contributing to different projects, and working in a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new solutions and features for engineering programs and projects in alignment with business requirements and technology architecture standards.
- Design, develop, test, and implement application enhancements and new functionality.
- Perform unit and component testing for new application development initiatives.
- Support business requests through small enhancements, break/fix implementations, and source code changes.
- Perform peer code reviews and maintain high-quality, standards-compliant code.
- Collaborate with other developers, technology partners, and internal stakeholders to deliver effective engineering solutions.
- Analyze technical requirements and recommend pragmatic and scalable solutions.
- Work with technology partners to ensure application configurations and custom components meet performance and functional requirements.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum activities including story estimation, task breakdown, sprint planning, backlog activities, and retrospectives.
- Document and verify application components, system infrastructure, security, integrations, operability, and technical architecture.
- Participate in design, prototype, quality management, and requirements reviews.
- Provide technical support during testing cycles and post-production deployments.
- Participate in incident management, troubleshoot application issues, perform impact assessments, and support timely resolution.
- Identify and recommend development and testing tools and solutions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to processes designed to prevent recurring application issues.
- Monitor application and product lifecycles and recommend redevelopment or enhancements where required.
Must-Have Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Strong experience with Git/GitHub and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with Angular or other modern frontend technologies.
- Good understanding of application infrastructure and runtime environments.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within Agile/Scrum development teams.

Candidate Profile
- 8+ years of overall software development experience preferred.
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced Agile environment.
- Strong focus on code quality, application reliability, and meeting delivery timelines.
Team & Environment
You will join a 16-member technology team with a collaborative culture and opportunities to work across different projects and initiatives.
The role involves approximately 10–15% meetings, with the majority of the time focused on hands-on development, collaboration, code implementation, testing, and code review.
There is no expected travel, and the role will not involve access to customer data.
