Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Banking Operations Officer to join a growing financial services operations team. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of banking or financial services experience, with hands-on experience in transfer processing, transaction processing, and back-office operations.
This role is well suited for candidates with strong analytical and organizational skills, a technology-oriented mindset, and the ability to manage high-volume transactions while maintaining accuracy and meeting service-level agreements (SLAs).
Key Responsibilities
- Review, process, and complete financial transfers and transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Process approximately 50–100 transfers daily while meeting established productivity and quality standards.
- Investigate and resolve transaction-related discrepancies and processing issues.
- Handle and respond to escalations from sales teams and front-office staff.
- Ensure all transactions and transfers are processed in accordance with established procedures and service-level agreements.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for all processed transactions.
- Prioritize multiple tasks and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced back-office environment.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve operational issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve processing efficiency and maintain high-quality service standards.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in banking or financial services.
- Hands-on experience in banking operations, back-office processing, financial transfers, or transaction processing.
- Proficiency in MS 365 applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy when handling financial transactions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong multitasking, organizational, and prioritization abilities.
- Comfortable working independently while contributing to team objectives.
- Strong technical aptitude and the ability to learn new systems and applications quickly.
- Post-secondary education or certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of investment products such as Guaranteed Investment Certificates (GICs), stocks, and mutual funds.
- Experience supporting investment operations or processing investment-related transactions.
- Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or Investment Funds in Canada (IFIC) certification.
- Experience working in a high-volume financial operations environment with SLA-driven performance metrics.
