About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Translator-Revisor to join a corporate Translation Services team. This role will be responsible for translating and revising content primarily from English into French, supporting corporate communications, insurance, and technology-related content.
The successful candidate will act as a language expert and go-to resource for the team, balancing translation and revision work while maintaining high standards of accuracy, consistency, terminology and corporate tone.
This is a fast-paced production environment where approximately 60% of the work will involve revision and 40% translation.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate high-quality content from English into French across corporate communications, insurance, and technology.
- Review and revise translations completed by internal team members and external translation vendors.
- Ensure translated content accurately reflects the intended meaning, tone and style of the original document.
- Ensure translations follow established brand, terminology, and style guidelines.
- Act as a language expert and subject-matter resource for colleagues, internal partners, and external suppliers.
- Provide constructive feedback, coaching and guidance to junior or less experienced translators.
- Conduct detailed terminological research to ensure accurate and consistent translations.
- Create and maintain terminology records and contribute to terminology databases.
- Analyze source files and determine the appropriate translation/revision approach.
- Work closely with coordinators, internal stakeholders, and external translation partners to deliver high-quality translations.
- Manage translation and revision assignments while meeting established productivity and service-level expectations.
- Support long-term translation projects and coordinate deliverables with relevant stakeholders.
- Perform post-editing of machine-translated content where required.
- Use translation management and computer-assisted translation tools effectively.
- Ensure work is completed accurately while managing multiple priorities and urgent requests.
- Support special assignments and provide coverage for the Associate Manager when required.
- Maintain high standards of quality, confidentiality and professionalism.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 8+ years of professional translation experience.
- Significant experience in English-to-French translation and revision.
- Full professional proficiency in both English and French, including language nuances and terminology.
- Strong experience with translation revision/proofreading.
- Experience working in a structured, corporate or production-oriented environment.
- Strong knowledge of FlowFit and memoQ.
- Experience conducting terminological research.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to act as a go-to resource for other team members and answer translation-related questions.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to translation quality.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage high volumes of work and meet productivity and quality targets.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of translation experience.
- At least 5 years of translation revision experience.
- Experience in banking or financial services.
- Experience in insurance.
- Experience with corporate or senior-leadership communications.
- Experience translating technology-related content.
- Experience working with external translation vendors.
- Experience coaching, training or mentoring junior translators.
- Experience with post-editing machine translation.
- Knowledge of MS Copilot or AI-assisted translation workflows.
- Membership in OTTIAQ is an asset.
- Experience with other translation management or terminology tools is an asset.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a highly experienced English-to-French Translator-Revisor who is comfortable spending most of the day in a production environment handling both translation and revision assignments.
You should be detail-oriented, decisive and able to provide constructive feedback to other translators. Experience within banking, financial services, insurance or another highly structured corporate environment is strongly preferred.
You will be expected to balance approximately 60% revision and 40% translation, while maintaining quality, productivity, and turnaround-time expectations.
