Job Description

WHAT'S THE ROLE

Creating meaningful employment opportunities for Indigenous Peoples takes more than recruitment. It requires strong community relationships, consistent candidate engagement and the ability to turn employment commitments into measurable results.

As Manager, Indigenous Employment, you will connect Indigenous candidates and communities with employment, training and career-development opportunities across our operations in Canada. You’ll build relationships in communities, represent Dexterra at events and career fairs, support candidates on their path toward employment, and work with Recruitment and Operations to align outreach with workforce needs.

Indigenous candidates encouraged to apply!

Just as importantly, you’ll bring structure and accountability to this work by maintaining accurate records and delivering clear, professional reporting on Indigenous employment activities and outcomes for our company, clients and government stakeholders.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, leadership, training providers and employment partners.
  • Lead Indigenous candidate outreach and develop talent pipelines for current and future employment opportunities.
  • Represent Dexterra at community events and celebrations, career fairs, conferences, hiring events and client meetings.
  • Connect candidates with employment opportunities and support them as they navigate the recruitment and pre-employment process.
  • Identify and promote training, apprenticeship, mentorship and workforce-readiness opportunities that support employment and career development.
  • Partner with Recruitment and Operations to align outreach with workforce requirements, project needs and employment commitments.
  • Plan and coordinate recruitment events, community engagement activities, employment campaigns and presentations.
  • Maintain accurate records of candidate referrals, outreach, community engagement and employment outcomes.
  • Prepare timely and accurate reports and presentations for internal leadership, clients and government stakeholders.

Qualifications

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for someone who can build trust with people and manage the details behind the relationships. You can be equally effective having a one-on-one conversation with a candidate, participating in a community event, presenting to a client or preparing a detailed employment report.

Indigenous candidates encouraged to apply!

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Indigenous relations, recruitment outreach, workforce development, community engagement, employment services or a related area.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous communities, organizations and leadership, with an understanding of Indigenous cultures and workforce development priorities across Canada.
  • Experience with recruitment, candidate outreach or employment services and an understanding of recruitment and pre-employment processes.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, including record keeping, activity tracking and managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong reporting and analytical skills, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, including the ability to adapt your communication style to candidates, communities, clients, government stakeholders and internal teams.
  • A professional presence and the confidence to represent Dexterra in community and client settings.
  • Experience coordinating community events, career fairs, recruitment initiatives or training programs.
  • A degree or diploma in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Flexibility to travel across Canada and attend occasional evening or weekend events.
  • French-language skills are an asset.
