Original job description

DG Global Inc. is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented General Accountant to support our growing finance team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working across a variety of accounting functions and is looking to expand their expertise in full-cycle accounting within a collaborative environment.

As a General Accountant, you will contribute to the accuracy and integrity of our financial records while supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, month-end processes, financial reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You'll Do

Cash Management & Banking

Monitor daily banking activity and accurately record transactions.
Prepare with bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
Prepare EFT and wire payments for review and approval.

General Accounting

Prepare and post journal entries.
Support month-end and year-end close activities.
Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
Assist with financial reports, schedules, and working papers.

Accounts Receivable

Generate and distribute customer invoices.
Process payments and apply cash receipts.
Maintain customer account records.
Support collections activities and resolve account discrepancies.

Accounts Payable

Review, code, and process vendor invoices.
Prepare payment batches and support vendor payment processing.
Reconcile vendor statements and follow up on outstanding items.
Provide backup support for the Accounts Payable function.

Tax & Compliance

Prepare with HST filings and government remittances.
Maintain records for audits and compliance requirements.
Ensure adherence to company accounting policies and procedures.

Expense Management

Reconcile corporate credit card statements.
Verify employee expenses and supporting documentation.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies.

Process Improvement

Support accounting process improvement initiatives.
Assist with ERP upgrades, implementations, and data-cleanup projects.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy.

What We're Looking For

Education

Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Experience

3+ years of accounting experience in an accounting or finance environment.
Experience using Sage or comparable accounting software.
Experience supporting ERP implementations or system transitions is considered an asset.

Technical Skills

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and reconciliation processes.
Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
Strong analytical and numerical abilities.
