Role Overview

As part of the finance team, this role supports the financial operations of the business, contributing to effective financial planning and execution through hands-on management of accounts receivable and accounts payable activities, and by providing reliable financial information to support the company’s goals and objectives.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Accounting Operations

Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
Assist with entering biweekly payroll information, validating hours and managing exceptions
Ensure timely invoicing, collections, and vendor payments
Resolve discrepancies and respond to internal and external inquiries related to payments and billing
Collaborate cross-functionally with various teams to align financial information with business needs
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiency
Support the implementation of new tools or systems when required

General Ledger & Reconciliations

Maintain accurate general ledger entries
Perform monthly reconciliations for bank accounts and other systems
Investigate and correct variances as needed

Month-End & Financial Close

Support the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, schedules, and supporting documentation
Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and internal reports
Ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and well organized

Compliance, Taxes & Audit Support

Prepare audit schedules, working papers, and supporting documentation for internal and external audits
Liaise with internal departments to gather explanations and financial data required for audit purposes
Maintain organized audit files and ensure proper documentation retention
Contribute to filing GST/QST returns and liaise with government agencies, as required
Ensure accounting practices comply with applicable accounting standards and regulations

Reporting & Financial Insights

Maintain and enhance financial and performance metric dashboards
Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports to support management decision-making

QUALIFICATIONS

7 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance operations
Strong attention to detail and a high personal standard for accuracy
Comfortable working in accounting tools (QuickBooks)
Excellent Excel skills
Organizational skills and able to manage multiple ongoing tasks
Knowledge of cost accounting and financial cycle in a service context
Bilingualism: written and spoken French and English
Proficiency in English is required, as you will occasionally need to communicate with our Toronto office as well as with certain English-speaking vendors. *
Bonus: experience in accounting in a service field

PRINCIPALES RESPONSABILITÉS

Comptabilité opérationnelle

Traiter les transactions de comptes fournisseurs et clients
Aider à saisir les informations sur la paie toutes les deux semaines, valider les heures et gérer les exceptions
Assurez-vous de facturer, de recouvrement et de paiements aux fournisseurs en temps opportun
Résoudre les divergences et répondre aux demandes internes et externes liées aux paiements et à la facturation
Collaborer de façon interfonctionnelle avec différentes équipes afin d'aligner l'information financière avec les besoins de l'entreprise
Identifier des occasions d'améliorer les processus comptables, les contrôles et l'efficacité
Soutenir la mise en œuvre de nouveaux outils ou systèmes lorsque nécessaire

Entrées comptables

Maintenir des entrées précises dans le grand livre général
Effectuer des rapprochements mensuels pour les comptes bancaires et autres systèmes
Enquêter et corriger les variations au besoin

Fin de mois et clôture financière

Soutenir le processus de clôture de fin de mois en préparant des entrées de journal, des calendriers et des documents de soutien
Aider à la préparation des états financiers mensuels et des rapports internes
Assurer que les dossiers financiers sont exacts, complets et bien organisés

Conformité, fiscalité et soutien à l'audit

Préparer des calendriers d'audit, des documents de travail et des documents de soutien pour les audits internes et externes
Collaborer avec les départements internes pour recueillir des explications et des données financières nécessaires à des fins d'audit
Tenir des dossiers d'audit organisés et assurer une bonne conservation des documents
Contribuer au dépôt des déclarations TPS/QST et collaborer avec les agences gouvernementales, selon les besoins
Assurez-vous que les pratiques comptables respectent les normes et règlements comptables applicables

Rapports et analyses financières

Maintenir et améliorer les tableaux de bord financiers et indicateurs de performance
Préparez des analyses financières et des rapports ponctuels pour soutenir la prise de décision en gestion

QUALIFICATIONS

7 ans d'expérience en comptabilité, tenue de livres ou opérations financières
Une grande attention aux détails et une exigence personnelle élevée de précision
À l'aise de travailler avec des outils comptables (QuickBooks)
Excellentes compétences en Excel
Compétences organisationnelles et capacité à gérer plusieurs tâches en cours
Connaissance de la comptabilité des coûts et du cycle financier dans un contexte de service
Bilinguisme : français et anglais écrits et parlés
