This is a new position and is based out of our Vancouver office.

We offer flexible work hours and hybrid work arrangement options to help balance the competing demands of work and personal life.

About Dillon

Through employee ownership, we return the financial benefit created by our project work to the very people who created that value. Because we are an employee-owned firm, your voice will be an essential part of our shared success.

Responsibilities

Project Support & Waste Management

Contribute to design and technical review under the guidance of experienced engineers, including the preliminary and detailed design of solid waste projects related to waste facility design (landfill, transfer station, compost facilities), facility evaluation, facility operations, landfill gas management, leachate management, and construction administration and oversight.
Support waste management planning, feasibility studies, environmental assessments, and strategies for waste reduction, diversion, organics management, and resource recovery.
Preparation of technical reports, assessments, and memorandums, engineering drawings, specifications, approval and permitting applications and public-facing documents.
Participation infield activities including construction observation, facility inspection and evaluation, and environmental monitoring.

Liaise with multidisciplinary project teams (including engineers, project managers, planners, environmental scientists, and technical support staff) to support project coordination and delivery.
Support projects across other engineering and environmental disciplines, as opportunities arise.

Business Development

Contribute to business development activities including the preparation of project proposals, financial proposals, presentations, and client liaison under the guidance of senior staff.
Gain exposure to client relationship management and the business of consulting engineering through participation in project meetings, proposal development, and client communications.
Business travel required upon request.

Learning & Development

Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development toward professional engineering licensure.
Actively seek feedback, ask thoughtful questions, and demonstrate initiative in developing technical and professional skills.
Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees and engagement in team knowledge-sharing and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

A degree in civil engineering, or a related discipline such as environmental, geotechnical, or mining engineering.
Licensed to practice as a professional engineer or eligible to be licensed within six months.
Minimum 2 years of experience. Having previous work experience with solid waste management, civil engineering and/or consulting engineering experience considered an asset.

Experience

Experienced in working with multidisciplinary team members on solid waste management planning, facility design, permitting and construction.
Familiar with relevant applicable waste management legislation including environmental assessment requirements and the approvals application process.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, with experience in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, data management tools, or engineering analysis software considered an asset.
An understanding of business issues associated with consulting engineering and planning or an interest in learning the business of consulting engineering.
Strong interpersonal skills, professional integrity, and a proactive approach to communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively, manage competing priorities, and seek guidance when needed.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, accompanied by a keen attention to detail.

Compensation$74,000 - $110,000At Dillon, we believe in transparency. The following salary range is what we expect to offer for this position. It will be dependent on the successful applicant’s education, experience, and skills, in addition to internal equity and geographic region.
