The Position

Lead and supervise the Field Technology Services team responsible for day-to-day support, maintenance, installation, and upgrades of operational on-board technology and field network systems across heavy equipment, including haul trucks, loaders, excavators, and drills, as well as the field infrastructure that supports them.

This is a field-based operational technology leadership role, accountable for team performance, safety, resource planning, vendor management, and service delivery across active sites, covering on-board systems, operational field networks, autonomous haulage and drilling technologies, teleremote operations, and fixed and mobile assets such as communication towers, solar trailers, and network cabinets.

Core responsibilities include leading the team supporting fleet management, fatigue monitoring, collision detection, telemetry, and GPS augmentation systems; overseeing diagnostics and repair of electro-mechanical and low-voltage issues; owning radio and Blast PED system programs; owning oversight of autonomous haulage/drilling and teleremote operation systems; and serving as the primary escalation point for Level 1, 2, and 3 support across equipment and operational infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Safety and Regulatory / Policy Compliance

Promote and champion the company's goals and values within the team.
Lead by example and hold the team accountable to safe work practices, particularly when working on or around heavy equipment.
Ensure the team supports regulatory and corporate compliance initiatives as they pertain to information, infrastructure, and technology assets.

Field Technology Support

Ensure the team delivers timely, quality hands-on support, maintenance, installation, and upgrades for on-board technology systems in heavy equipment such as haul trucks, loaders, excavators, and drills.
Provide oversight and guidance on complex electro-mechanical diagnostics and repairs related to on-board systems.
Ensure standards are followed for troubleshooting and repair of low-voltage electrical systems related to on-board systems.
Review and approve new installations, ensuring proper function and integration with back-end systems.

Autonomous Haulage (AHS), Autonomous Drilling & Teleremote Operations Support

Oversee team support of Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) and autonomous drilling technologies, ensuring safety and performance standards are met.
Ensure the team maintains the network and wireless connectivity reliability required for safe teleremote operation of equipment.
Coordinate with mine operations and remote operating center stakeholders on autonomy and teleremote technology performance and incident response.

Operational Field Network & Infrastructure Support

Oversee support, monitoring, and maintenance of operational field network infrastructure, including communication towers, solar trailers, mobile network assets, fixed network cabinets, industrial switches/routers, radios, and field-deployed wireless access points.
Ensure ongoing performance and optimization of the field technology networks, setting priorities and standards for the team.

Incident Management

Own the escalation path for Level 2 and 3 incidents related to onboard and field network technologies, engaging vendors or other IT teams as needed.
Track team performance against service levels, coordinate resolutions, and report on incident trends to leadership.

Asset Management

Own the inventory and lifecycle management program for onboard technology and operational computing assets.
Manage vendor and service-provider contracts and relationships, and oversee budget for repair, replacement, and preventive maintenance of field-deployed hardware.
Ensure documentation standards are followed for installations, updates, and configurations across the team.
Ensure all required safety procedures are followed when the team services or accesses equipment and electronics in the field.

Leadership and Team Management

Supervise, schedule, and coach a team of Field Technology Services Analysts and Specialists across one or more sites.
Conduct performance reviews, support career development, and identify training needs for the team.
Participate in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new team members.
Plan resourcing and coverage across sites and shifts to meet operational demands.
Foster a safety-first, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.
Represent Field Technology Services in cross-functional and site operations discussions.

Skills And Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Supervisory or leadership training is an asset.
7 to 10+ years of experience in technical or field support roles related to technology and heavy equipment.
Minimum 2 years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
Valid "G" driver's license.
Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a technical field team in a mining or industrial environment.
Strong knowledge of on-board technology, low-voltage DC systems, and operational or field-based network infrastructure, including Layer 1-3 and OT networking concepts.
Strong knowledge of wireless network technologies, including 4G/LTE/5G cellular systems, and their application to field, OT, and autonomous/teleremote connectivity.
Experience overseeing support of autonomous haulage/drilling systems and/or teleremote operations required.
Broad knowledge of all technology considerations (performance, scalability, maintainability, deployment, operations, technology infrastructure).
Experience managing vendor and service-provider relationships, contracts, and budgets.
Proven incident management leadership, including experience with escalation processes and service-level management.
Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder-management skills with vendors, service providers, colleagues, clients, customers, and leadership.
Strong planning, prioritization, and resource-management skills across multiple sites and concurrent projects.
Prior mining or industrial experience required.

Site based position in Timmins, ON

Travel domestically between sites is required
