As an international innovation partner, we offer unmatched knowledge and tools that empower businesses to lead and succeed in an ever-evolving landscape. Our commitment to helping large enterprises innovate in the most effective way possible has made us a top global player, renowned for our client-centric, outcome-based approach.
With operations across Canada and the US, we are in our scale stage and looking for highly qualified, driven people to join us at Disruptive Edge and become part of a team dedicated to transforming businesses. Here, you'll have the opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects, drive tangible results, and make a significant impact in the industry.
We're hiring a Director of Talent to own and build our talent function as we grow. Reporting to the COO, you'll lead recruiting, onboarding, performance management and resource management, working closely with leaders to connect business needs with people's skills, capacity and development.
You'll run the function, both setting priorities and handling the day-to-day work. That includes sourcing candidates, coordinating interviews, maintaining records and following up on reviews. We have foundations in place, including career managers and performance processes. You'll take ownership of how these work, improve what's useful and use AI and automation to reduce manual effort.
What you'll do:
- Own recruiting from role definition and sourcing through interviews and offers, including candidate coordination and follow-up. Keep business leaders closely involved in hiring decisions.
- Work with leaders to anticipate hiring needs based on upcoming work, available capacity and gaps in the team's skills.
- Manage project resourcing across the firm, balancing client needs, internal commitments and people's development. Resolve competing requests and flag capacity risks early.
- Use and improve our existing resourcing platform with Engineering, keeping staffing information current and useful for everyday decisions.
- Own the onboarding experience so new hires understand our business, tools and expectations. Coordinate equipment and access logistics with Operations.
- Execute on our career manager model, giving managers clear guidance, useful tools and support for feedback and development conversations.
- Run the performance review process, including coordination, documentation and follow-up, so employees receive timely feedback and understand where they stand.
- Help managers address performance concerns early, with clear expectations, documented support and regular check-ins. Partner with leadership and counsel on sensitive matters.
- Strengthen coaching and development, including manager training, useful peer feedback and clear guidance on progression and acting roles.
- Be a trusted point of contact for people-related questions and concerns. Help resolve conflicts with discretion, fairness and follow-through.
- Improve our people processes and use AI and automation to reduce repetitive work, applying sound judgment to sensitive information and decisions.
What we're looking for:
- 5+ years of relevant experience in talent, people operations or resource management, including experience in consulting or a similar professional services firm.
- Experience independently owning and improving people processes, with examples of what you built and how it helped.
- Practical experience managing project staffing and balancing business priorities with people's skills, availability and career goals.
- A track record of recruiting strong candidates and running effective onboarding and performance processes.
- The credibility to work with senior leaders, challenge assumptions and resolve competing priorities.
- Strong judgment in sensitive conversations, with the ability to earn trust and handle employee concerns fairly.
- Experience helping managers give useful feedback, address underperformance and support development.
- Comfortable operating without a dedicated team, moving between advising senior leaders and handling everyday coordination and administration.
- Practical experience using AI and automation to improve workflows and reduce manual work.
- Comfortable building on existing systems and adapting them as the business changes.
Working Conditions:
- Hybrid, based in Toronto.
- Reporting to the COO and supporting teams across Canada and the US.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, highly entrepreneurial environment with high expectations for performance and accountability.
Compensation:
- Annual base salary of CAD 80,000-100,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
