Original job description
Assurance Manager | $110,000–$135,000 | Niagara Falls (In-Office)
One of the frustrations of becoming an Assurance Manager is that you can end up spending more time managing spreadsheets, deadlines and people than actually working with clients.
This opportunity offers something a little different.
You'll join one of the Niagara Region's most established independent CPA firms, taking ownership of audit and assurance engagements while working directly with Partners and a varied client base.
The firm has been operating for over 80 years, with a strong presence across Niagara. Its clients include privately held businesses, manufacturers, construction companies, hospitality groups, agricultural businesses and not-for-profit organizations.
It's an opportunity to have a genuine influence over engagements, develop your team and build long-term client relationships, rather than simply being responsible for getting files out the door.
Why consider it:
- $110,000–$135,000 salary
- Niagara Falls location, fully in-office
- Well-established independent CPA firm
- Broad audit and assurance portfolio
- Exposure to multiple industries and privately held businesses
- Direct involvement with Partners and senior clients
- Genuine ownership of engagements and client relationships
- Opportunity to lead and develop an assurance team
- Supportive working environment
- Long-term career development and leadership opportunities
What you'll be doing:
- Manage audit and review engagements from planning through completion
- Oversee multiple client engagements, budgets and deadlines
- Review financial statements, working papers and assurance documentation
- Lead audit teams and provide direction throughout engagements
- Identify and resolve complex accounting and assurance issues
- Work directly with clients, including business owners and senior management
- Review staff work and ensure engagements meet professional standards
- Mentor and develop junior and senior accountants
- Provide technical guidance on ASPE, IFRS and other applicable reporting standards
- Work closely with Partners on engagement planning and client matters
- Identify opportunities to provide additional accounting and advisory support
- Help maintain high standards of client service and audit quality
What they're looking for:
- CPA designation
- 5+ years of Canadian public accounting experience
- Strong external audit and assurance background
- Experience managing audit engagements from planning to completion
- Previous experience supervising and reviewing staff work
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Auditing Standards
- Experience with ASPE and/or IFRS
- Comfortable managing multiple engagements and competing deadlines
- Strong client communication and relationship management skills
- Experience with CaseWare would be useful
- Previous Manager experience preferred, although strong Assurance Seniors ready to progress will also be considered
