Original job description

DM Elite Talent is seeking an experienced Plant & Production Manager on behalf of an established organization in the Halton Hills/Milton area.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on operations leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a proven ability to lead teams, improve processes, and drive operational performance.

The successful candidate will oversee daily production, warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, and order fulfillment, ensuring efficiency, quality, safety, and on-time delivery.

This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role requiring a strong presence on the floor, with responsibility for developing frontline leaders, driving accountability, and ensuring consistency across operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Production Management

  • Oversee daily production, warehouse, shipping, receiving, and fulfillment activities.
  • Plan and coordinate production schedules, staffing, and workflow to meet operational targets.
  • Manage inbound and outbound shipments, inventory accuracy, order picking, staging, and loading.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce costs.
  • Monitor operational KPIs, including productivity, labour efficiency, cost control, and on-time order fulfillment.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop Supervisors, Team Leads, and frontline employees.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and hold teams accountable for results.
  • Maintain a strong, consistent presence on the production floor.
  • Oversee workforce planning, scheduling, training, and performance management.
  • Foster a positive, safety-focused culture built on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with company SOPs, GMPs, health and safety regulations, and applicable quality standards.
  • Maintain operational cleanliness, organization, and audit readiness.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and other departments to resolve operational challenges.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, waste reduction, and process standardization.
  • Support preventive maintenance planning and minimize operational downtime.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 3–5+ years of progressive experience in production, warehouse, manufacturing, or operations management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing Supervisors or Team Leads, ideally within a large, multi-shift operation.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management, shipping/receiving, and production scheduling.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams, manage performance, and drive operational accountability.
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing, distribution, or CPG environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, SQF, or similar quality and regulatory standards is an asset.
  • Experience managing temporary or agency workforces is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, or other continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically active operational environment.

Schedule & Work Environment:

  • Primarily Monday to Friday, day shift, with some flexibility required.
  • Occasional evening or weekend presence to support operations.
  • This is an on-site, floor-focused management position, not a desk-based role.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of a sizeable operation, develop a strong leadership team, and make a measurable impact on operational performance. It is well-suited for an experienced leader who enjoys being actively involved in day-to-day operations while driving long-term improvements.
