DNM Mechanical Group is hiring a Junior Estimator to prepare cost estimates for our plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical projects. You’ll work alongside our Senior Estimator and Sales team, reporting to the General Manager, and take on larger projects as your experience grows. Trimble experience is preferred.

What you’ll be doing
Our Sales team defines the scope, you price it, and Sales takes it to the client. Day to day, that means:
- Reviewing drawings and specs, doing quantity takeoffs, and building detailed estimates for materials, labour, and equipment
- Pulling in subcontractor and supplier pricing and checking it for accuracy and scope
- Spotting risks and scope gaps early, and suggesting cost-saving alternatives where they make sense
- Keeping our Trimble cost database, labour units, and pricing up to date
- Joining pre-bid meetings and site visits to confirm assumptions
- Comparing estimated vs. actual costs after jobs wrap up, so our numbers keep getting sharper
What you bring
- Post-secondary education in construction or mechanical engineering technology, quantity surveying, or a related field, or a trade background (306A or 313A)
- Up to 2 years of mechanical estimating experience (field experience in the trades is a big plus)
- Comfort reading architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings
- Experience with estimating and takeoff software (Trimble, Bluebeam, PlanSwift) and solid Excel skills
- A good eye for detail and a real interest in learning from experienced people
Nice to have: 306A or 313A certification, or G1/G2 gas licensing.

Review drawings and specifications, perform quantity takeoffs, and prepare detailed estimates for materials, labour, and equipment. Obtain and verify supplier and subcontractor pricing, maintain Trimble cost data, attend pre-bid meetings and site visits, and compare estimated costs with actual project costs.
Requirements
Candidates should have post-secondary education in construction, mechanical engineering technology, quantity surveying, or a related field, or a relevant trade background, and up to two years of mechanical estimating experience. They should be comfortable reading architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and using estimating software and Excel; trade certifications or gas licensing are assets.
