Director, Systems Integration
The Role
The aircraft doesn't operate alone - it's one node in a system of systems that includes peer aircraft, control stations, ground sensors, and command posts, and someone has to own the architecture that makes all of it function together. That's you. You define how mission autonomy, sensors, and payload systems interface with the aircraft's flight management, GNC, and avionics, and how the aircraft itself interfaces with the control stations, the fighter jets, sensors, and command posts around it - so a decision made anywhere in that system translates into something every other part can safely execute.
You sit across the autonomy and mission systems side and the aerospace engineering side, and when there are disagreements on where a capability lives or how an interface should behave, you're the one with the authority to resolve it at the architecture level, not escalate it and wait for someone else to decide.
What You'll Do
Own the architecture for the system of systems - the aircraft, peer platforms, control stations, ground sensors, and command posts - defining how autonomy, mission systems, and the airframe/flight controls interface and interoperate across all of it.
Bridge the autonomy organization and the aerospace engineering organization - translating what autonomy needs from the vehicle into requirements the airframe and flight controls teams can build to, and vice versa.
Define and control interface control documents (ICDs) not only for mission autonomy software and the vehicle management/flight control systems, but also for all aircraft sub-systems.
Set systems integration standards, review processes, and architecture governance for a program that's still defining both organizations underneath you.
Lead systems integration reviews and represent the integrated architecture at program-level design reviews.
Identify and resolve architecture-level conflicts between autonomy, mission systems, and vehicle-level constraints before they become schedule or safety risk.
Build and mentor the systems integration function as the team scales.
What You Bring
Experience architecting systems of systems that span software autonomy and a physical vehicle platform, not just one side of that boundary.
A track record owning integration architecture across multiple engineering organizations, not just within one.
Deep comfort with interface control and requirements management between software/autonomy teams and hardware/vehicle teams.
Experience resolving architecture-level conflicts and trade-offs directly, with the authority to make the call.
Comfortable building the systems integration function itself, not just operating inside an existing one.
Eligible to obtain and maintain a Canadian security clearance (Secret or higher).
Engineering degree in a relevant discipline.
Nice to Have
Experience on an autonomous or uncrewed aircraft program specifically.
Background in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) or systems architecture frameworks.
Experience with flight-critical or safety-critical systems integration (DO-178C/DO-254 or equivalent).
Exposure to RCAF, DND, or NATO airworthiness pathways for uncrewed systems.
No defence background required.
We've hired people who didn't tick every box. If this is the work you want to do, please apply anyway.
