The Opportunity
The Mathematics Upgrading Department is seeking an excellent mathematics instructor, with a demonstrated ability to motivate and support adult upgrading students with challenges in learning mathematics. This instructor will enjoy working in a collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be able to teach courses at the fundamental, intermediate and advanced Adult Basic Education ( ABE ) levels. What It Takes
As a faculty member in the Mathematics Upgrading ( MATU ) Department you will instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress in Douglas College MATU courses. You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources, provide academic advice to learners and maintain quality learner-centered instruction. You will also be expected to attend meetings, participate in faculty and college-wide committees and departmental projects, contribute to curriculum development in the department, and engage in ongoing professional development.
The Minimum Qualifications For This Position Are
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s degree is preferred
- Teaching experience with ABE adult learners or similar
- Teaching credential
Applicants will be considered for this position based on their experience, qualifications and availability. Applicants must be able to teach all levels of math upgrading courses.
Additional Information
The Mathematics Upgrading Department in the Faculty of Science & Technology at Douglas College is seeking a probationary regular instructor for the 2027 calendar year. This is a part-time regular position for a minimum of 7 sections of work (87.5%) total.
The successful candidate must be able to teach at either one of the two Douglas College Campuses, in New Westminster and Coquitlam.
Workload is assigned each year based on available sections and in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
