Job description:

Photographer & Videographer

Location: Mississauga, ON

Travel: Approximately 50–70 trips/assignments per year across Canada and the United States

Travel Expenses: Business-related travel expenses covered by the company

About the Role

Dr. Marketing is looking for a creative, professional, and highly organized Photographer & Videographer to support the ongoing visual content needs of our clients and our company.

This is a hands-on creative role that extends beyond scheduled client photography and videography sessions. The Photographer & Videographer will be responsible for continuously capturing, producing, editing, and developing visual content for client campaigns, Dr. Marketing's own marketing initiatives, conferences and events, websites, social media, advertising, print campaigns, presentations, and other projects.

The role includes frequent and ongoing video editing, including editing footage captured by the Photographer & Videographer as well as footage and content supplied by clients, Dr. Marketing staff, and other sources.

The ideal candidate combines strong photography, videography, and editing skills with creativity and an understanding of modern marketing and social media. This person should be comfortable generating ideas rather than simply waiting for a shot list or assignment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute professional photography and videography for dental practices, healthcare clients, Dr. Marketing, corporate environments, conferences, seminars, events, and other assignments.
  • Capture headshots, team photography, office interiors, treatment rooms, dental technology, equipment, lifestyle content, and close-up or clinical imagery when required.
  • Film doctor introductions, testimonials, educational videos, promotional campaigns, social media content, advertisements, website content, and other branded material.
  • Continuously edit video content as part of the day-to-day responsibilities of the position, including footage that may not have been personally filmed by the Photographer & Videographer.
  • Edit footage supplied by clients, internal staff, contractors, and other departments into polished content suitable for websites, social media, advertising, presentations, and other marketing initiatives.
  • Edit video using Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, CapCut, or similar tools, incorporating appropriate pacing, captions, music, typography, transitions, motion graphics, branding, and other creative elements.
  • Edit and retouch photography, including colour correction, exposure adjustments, skin retouching, cropping, resizing, and background cleanup.
  • Travel to conferences, seminars, trade shows, and other company events to document Dr. Marketing's participation, including booth setup and teardown, staff interactions, seminars and presentations, behind-the-scenes activity, attendee engagement, and other content that can be used to promote the company.
  • Capture behind-the-scenes and day-in-the-life content involving Dr. Marketing staff, company activities, travel, meetings, events, and other appropriate opportunities.
  • Produce content regularly from the Dr. Marketing office, including educational videos, social media content, promotional material, staff content, behind-the-scenes footage, and other creative concepts.
  • Work with Dr. Marketing staff to record recurring content for the company's own social media channels and marketing campaigns.
  • Create engaging short-form content using formats such as POV videos, UGC-style content, voiceovers, Reels, interviews, educational clips, behind-the-scenes videos, and other trend-driven concepts.
  • Proactively develop and recommend new photography and video concepts for Dr. Marketing and its clients, rather than relying solely on assigned projects.
  • Identify opportunities to turn existing footage into additional content, including short-form clips, advertisements, social posts, website content, educational material, and other reusable assets.
  • Collaborate regularly with the Marketing, Projects, Sales, and other departments to understand upcoming campaigns and determine where photography or video can strengthen the project.
  • Participate in content planning and brainstorming discussions and contribute creative ideas for websites, social media campaigns, paid advertising, print campaigns, presentations, conferences, and other company or client initiatives.
  • Help Marketing and other departments develop concepts, shot lists, scripts, storyboards, interview questions, and content plans when required.
  • Direct dentists, team members, clients, Dr. Marketing staff, executives, and other individuals so they appear natural, professional, and confident on camera.
  • Operate professional cameras, lenses, lighting, audio equipment, stabilizers, and other production equipment.
  • Capture high-quality photo and video content using smartphones when the format or platform calls for a more authentic, social-first approach.
  • Adapt and format content for different platforms and applications, including websites, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, digital advertising, print, presentations, and other marketing channels.
  • Maintain an organized library of photography, raw footage, edited videos, project files, templates, and completed creative assets according to company standards.
  • Manage multiple editing and production projects simultaneously while meeting internal and client deadlines.
  • Stay current with social media trends, platform changes, photography techniques, editing styles, emerging content formats, and developments in photo/video technology.

What We're Looking For

  • Professional experience in both photography and videography.
  • Strong professional video-editing experience and the ability to handle video editing as a regular and significant part of the position.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating photography, videography, editing, short-form content, and visual storytelling.
  • Experience with dental, healthcare, medical, corporate, commercial, portrait, event, conference, or social media content is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of camera operation, lighting, composition, framing, colour, audio, and visual storytelling.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, and After Effects, or comparable professional software.
  • Experience using CapCut and creating/editing content specifically for social media.
  • Strong understanding of major social media platforms, current content trends, and what makes short-form content engaging.
  • Ability to take raw or supplied footage and independently determine how to turn it into engaging, polished content.
  • Comfortable using both professional camera equipment and smartphones for photo and video production.
  • Good understanding of typography, colour theory, branding, composition, and visual hierarchy.
  • Creative and proactive mindset with the ability to bring forward new content ideas and identify opportunities without always requiring detailed direction.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to interact professionally with dentists, doctors, executives, clients, event attendees, and internal teams.
  • Highly organized with strong time management, punctuality, attention to detail, and the ability to manage equipment, travel schedules, editing workloads, projects, and deadlines.
  • Comfortable working independently, making creative decisions on location, and providing direction to people with limited on-camera experience.
  • Comfortable collaborating across departments and receiving feedback from multiple stakeholders.
  • Professional, dependable, adaptable, receptive to feedback, and calm under pressure.

Travel & Background Requirements

  • Willing and able to travel approximately 50–70 times per year, primarily throughout Canada and the United States.
  • Comfortable with frequent flights, overnight stays, early departures, occasional evening or weekend assignments, and consecutive travel days.
  • Travel assignments may include client photography/videography sessions, conferences, seminars, trade shows, company events, and other content opportunities.
  • Must be able to meet all applicable requirements for business travel between Canada and the United States and have no restrictions that would prevent required business travel.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a background check, including a criminal record check, if required by the company or client assignment.
  • Business-related travel expenses will be covered by Dr. Marketing in accordance with company policy.

Portfolio Requirement

A professional portfolio is required for consideration.

The portfolio should demonstrate a combination of photography, videography, video editing, and visual storytelling. Examples of professional headshots, corporate or healthcare content, interiors, interviews, testimonials, events, conferences, social media videos, short-form content, and creative editing are especially valuable.

We are looking for someone who can do more than capture great footage. The right candidate should be able to recognize content opportunities, develop ideas, capture the material, and turn raw footage into polished marketing content that supports both Dr. Marketing and our clients.

If you can combine professional production quality, strong editing capabilities, creativity, and an understanding of what performs across today's digital and social platforms, we'd love to see your work.
