Role Description This part-time Math and Science Tutor role is a hybrid position based in Vancouver, BC, with a combination of in-person sessions and some work-from-home online tutoring. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging math and science lessons, providing one-on-one or small-group tutoring, and adapting instruction to different grade levels and learning styles. The tutor will assess student understanding, offer clear explanations of concepts, assign and review practice work, and track progress over time. The role also involves communicating regularly with students and families about goals and outcomes, maintaining accurate records of sessions, and preparing students for tests, exams, and school assignments.
Qualifications
- Strong subject-matter expertise in Mathematics, including core concepts and Algebra.
- Demonstrated experience in Tutoring and Online Tutoring, with the ability to support diverse learners.
- Effective Communication skills, including clear explanation of concepts and constructive feedback.
- Comfort with hybrid work arrangements and basic proficiency with online teaching tools and platforms.
- Previous experience tutoring math or science in a school, academy, or private setting is an asset.
- Post-secondary coursework or a degree in Mathematics, Science, Education, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Ability to work part-time, including after-school or weekend hours, and maintain a professional, student-centered approach.
