Working under the direction of senior engineers, this role contributes to CAD modelling, engineering drawings, prototype builds, design revisions, and production documentation while developing practical mechanical engineering skills in a fast-paced hardware environment.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical Design & Documentation

Design and update mechanical parts and systems according to engineering direction and internal standards.
Produce engineering drawings with correct dimensions, basic tolerances, and clear revision control.
Prepare engineering production documentation packages.
Implement design revisions, ECO changes, and drawing updates accurately and on time.
Coordinate with the Product Operations Coordinator to ensure documentation consistency and proper file management.

Prototyping & Testing

Support prototype builds, mechanical assembly, and hands-on testing activities.
Conduct tests, document findings, and help prepare mechanical test reports.
Apply basic DFM principles while taking design direction from senior engineers.

Engineering Support & Collaboration

Participate in design reviews, take notes, and incorporate feedback into design updates.
Participate in shop organization, prototype material preparation, and mechanical housekeeping tasks as needed.

Who are you really?

Detail-oriented and comfortable revising work based on feedback from senior engineers.
Eager to learn advanced mechanical engineering practices and demonstrate measurable skill growth over time.
Comfortable with hands-on prototyping, assembly, testing, and rapid experimentation.
Able to manage multiple tasks, follow structured engineering processes, and adapt to changing priorities.
A clear communicator who works effectively with senior engineers, operations, and documentation teams.
Confident using hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, measuring tools, and basic fabrication tools.
Produces clean, organized CAD, drawings, and engineering documentation while catching errors early and maintaining accuracy.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Experience in mechanical design, prototyping, or engineering support roles.
Proficiency in CAD software (Autodesk Fusion preferred), with demonstrated skill in part and assembly modelling.
Basic understanding of mechanical fundamentals, including materials, tolerances, fasteners, and force paths.

Preferred Qualifications

Internship or co-op experience in hardware development, robotics, UAVs, or similar sectors.
Familiarity with rapid prototyping tools, including 3D printing and basic machining.
Exposure to DFM/DFA concepts or coursework.

Compensation package:

Competitive salary: $65,000 - $85,000 CAD
Equity / Stock Options: Participation in the company’s stock option plan, providing long term ownership and alignment with company growth.
Comprehensive medical and dental benefits, including a Health Spending Account (HSA).
Matching RRSP program to support long term financial planning.
Generous time off program, including vacation, wellness days, and the full week off between Christmas and New Year’s.
Professional development support, including assistance toward obtaining your FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or equivalent training required for operational roles.
