Dream Theory is an AI-assisted visual effects studio working across commercial, film, and television projects. We combine traditional VFX techniques with generative technology to deliver high-quality work through practical, evolving production workflows.
We're looking for a forward-thinking VFX Supervisor who can lead creative execution, guide artists, and help shape the technical workflows that bring ambitious visual concepts to life.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead the creative and technical execution of VFX projects from concept development through final delivery.
- Apply hands-on experience with generative AI platforms, including tools such as Higgsfield, to explore and execute AI-assisted image and video production.
- Supervise artists across relevant disciplines, including compositing, animation, CG, motion graphics, editing, and other post-production workflows.
- Provide clear creative feedback, technical guidance, and practical solutions to complex visual challenges.
- Review shots, sequences, and final deliverables to ensure they meet creative expectations and technical specifications.
- Collaborate with producers to assess feasibility, identify risks, estimate complexity, and align creative ambition with schedules and resources.
- Develop and refine prompting strategies, reference-driven workflows, and iterative generation techniques to achieve specific creative outcomes.
- Assess generated content for visual consistency, temporal stability, continuity, realism, and suitability for professional delivery.
- Determine when AI-generated approaches, traditional VFX techniques, or hybrid workflows are most appropriate.
- Help document repeatable workflows so successful experiments can be adopted consistently across projects.
- Evaluate emerging tools based on output quality, reliability, control, integration requirements, and production value.
What we’re looking for
- 3-5 years of experience in VFX supervision, senior compositing, CG supervision, or a comparable senior creative and technical role.
- Experience both on set and in post supervision
- Proficiency in both Nuke and Adobe After Effects, with the ability to troubleshoot and support artists in either pipeline
- Strong understanding of visual effects pipelines, shot production, compositing, image-making, and post-production workflows.
- A strong visual eye and the ability to translate creative direction into practical technical solutions.
- Hands-on experience with generative AI tools for image or video creation, ideally including Higgsfield or comparable platforms.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as OpenAI Codex, particularly for workflow prototyping, scripting assistance, or production automation.
- Ability to guide artists, communicate technical concepts clearly, and collaborate across creative and production teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance creative quality, technical feasibility, and delivery requirements.
- A proactive, adaptable mindset suited to a startup environment where workflows and technologies are continually evolving.
Nice to Have
- Experience combining generative AI with traditional compositing, CG, animation, motion graphics, editorial, or finishing.
- Familiarity with tools such as Runway, Adobe Firefly, or other emerging generative platforms.
- Experience with node-based workflows, APIs, Python, scripting, or pipeline automation.
- Familiarity with tools such as Maya, Blender, Houdini, or comparable VFX applications.
- Experience developing creative workflows for image-to-video, video-to-video, reference-driven generation, or consistent character and environment creation.
- Awareness of AI asset provenance, intellectual property, licensing, confidentiality, and commercial delivery considerations.
We’re a small studio where people contribute across disciplines and help shape how the work gets done. This is an opportunity to take creative ownership, support a growing team, and develop new approaches to visual effects while maintaining a high standard of craft.
To apply, please send your résumé, demo reel, and a short introduction to hiring@dreamtheory.io. Include a brief breakdown of your contribution to the work shown, along with any relevant leadership or generative VFX experience.
