Procurement & Supplier Development Intern

We are seeking a motivated Procurement & Supplier Development Intern to support our Operations team in identifying and qualifying new raw material suppliers.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Operations Management team, the successful candidate will play a key role in expanding and strengthening Dura's supplier network.
The primary objective of this internship is to identify new sources of raw materials, coordinate supplier qualification activities, and work cross-functionally to ensure new materials meet Dura's quality and performance standards before being approved for production.
This position offers excellent exposure to procurement, manufacturing, quality assurance, engineering, product development, and project management.
Key Responsibilities
Research and identify potential suppliers in Canada, the United States, and internationally.
Evaluate supplier capabilities, certifications, production capacity, pricing, and reliability.
Request quotations, technical documentation, samples, and material specifications.
Coordinate the receipt and tracking of supplier samples.
Work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Laboratory teams to organize material testing.
Monitor testing progress and ensure evaluations are completed according to company procedures.
Compare new materials against current approved raw materials for quality, consistency, and performance.
Maintain supplier evaluation reports and qualification documentation.
Follow up with suppliers regarding technical questions and improvement opportunities.
Assist in supplier onboarding once materials have successfully met Dura's approval requirements.
Support continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
Perform other procurement and operations-related projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from:
Supply Chain Management
Industrial Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Chemical Engineering
Business Administration
Operations Management
or a related field.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills in English.
French is considered an asset.
Comfortable communicating with suppliers by email and phone.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an asset.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Detail-oriented with strong follow-up skills.
Basic technical knowledge
Ability to understand manufacturing processes and material specifications is an asset
