Duties and Responsibilities:
The Partnership Manager is one of two key leadership positions responsible for overseeing and executing strategic partnership activities, stewardship, program development, revenue-generating initiatives, and the successful implementation of all activities outlined in the Barrett Centre of Innovation in Sustainable Urban Agriculture (Barrett Centre) agreement.

Working closely with the Barrett Centre’s Strategic Initiatives Manager, this role focuses on establishing and expanding partnerships with industry, government, community stakeholders, and other key organizations. A primary objective is to leverage funding and resources to enhance the Barrett Centre’s initiatives, fostering sustainable growth and impact while ensuring meaningful community integration.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing compliance by actively monitoring progress and ensuring alignment with project objectives and donor agreements.
Identifying and developing new program opportunities that support a skilled, future-ready workforce in sustainable urban agriculture and resilient community building through innovative academic programs and strategic initiatives.
Overseeing revenue-generating activities where appropriate to ensure financial sustainability.
Leading the development of industry, government, and community partnerships to expand resources, funding, and research initiatives.
Strengthening community integration by fostering collaborations that enhance local engagement, accessibility, and participation in urban agriculture initiatives.
In collaboration with the Barrett Centre’s Strategic Initiatives Manager, establishing outreach and recruitment strategies for in-person school and community visits to support enrollment in new and existing post-secondary programs.
Establish and oversee entrance, retention and pathway scholarships to help create equitable access to education and ensure the long-term success of students.
Creating mentorship and work-integrated learning opportunities for Durham College students, ensuring their involvement in community engagement, innovation, and applied learning experiences.

This role is instrumental in ensuring the Barrett Centre achieves its project goals while fostering long-term partnerships, advancing urban agriculture, establishing a scalable and adaptable model for sustainable urban agriculture, and expanding access to farming resources, knowledge, and best practices in collaboration with the broader community. Additionally, it plays a vital role in fostering student success, cultivating an innovation mindset, and enhancing career readiness through mentorship, industry partnerships, and applied learning opportunities.

Qualifications:

A minimum of a 3-year diploma/degree in business management, preferably with an agriculture or agri-food focus.
A minimum of 5-years of experience working in agriculture or an agri-food related industry, and working with industry and key influences to advance business interests.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and computer skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, grant applications, and presentations.
Adaptable, flexible, and innovative problem-solving skills.
Experience providing guidance and direction in a team setting.
Strong organizational and time-management skills in planning, executing and completing tasks.
Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in all matters related to students, staffing and programming.
Experience sitting on formal boards, committees and other bodies where good governance principles are followed.
Ability to work professionally and effectively with people at all levels in and outside of the college.
Knowledge of the different levels of government and how they fund projects and organizations.
