Reporting to the Manager, the Team Lead - Clinical Laboratory Assistant is responsible for monitoring the day-to-day operations of the Clinical Laboratory Assistant and Laboratory Assistant teams, which includes the organization of the daily work in a safe environment, coaching and training of the staff, as well as taking appropriate actions to maintain a continuous workflow on shift.

Status: Permanent Part-Time

Shift: Saturday and Sunday; 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

How YOU will make a difference:

• Oversee daily team operations, ensuring timely task completion and addressing common problems.
• Follow up on anomalies and non-conformities in collaboration with the various Dynacare departments and implement corrective actions, where necessary.
• Participate in the optimization of operational processes and the implementation of new services.
• Manage inventory and supplies.
• Serve as a technical resource for the Clinical Laboratory Assistants and Laboratory Assistant teams.
• Responsible for preparing and submitting end of shift reports to the manager.
• Support staff bench reassignments and resource allocations as needed.
• Assist in coordinating and supporting training activities.
• Maintain adherence to all quality standards and existing procedures.
• Coordinate with the logistics and pathologists’ teams.
• Communicate with vendors to address instrument downtime and coordinate service.
• Notify the manager of any immediate concerns.
• All other CLA tasks as needed.
• Any other responsibility assigned by the Manager or designate.

What YOU bring to the role:

• College or university degree in a relevant field, or certified MLA
• 3 years of histology experience
• Knowledge of ISO / GLP standards an asset
• Knowledge of WHIMIS and TDG an asset
• Computer skills
• Autonomous, responsible, sense of organization and planning
• Strong communication skills and effective teamwork skills
• Ability to manage priorities
• Ability to work in a changing and constantly evolving environment

Working Conditions:

• Normal laboratory environment
• Required to lift a maximum of 30 pounds
• Shift work which can include day, evening and weekends dependent on operational needs
• Availability to work overtime as needed

Pay rate: $28.00-$30.50 per hour 

The hiring pay range has been established; however, the final pay offer will be determined by taking into consideration various factors including but not limited to, level of experience and education requirements.
