Operations Assistant
DynaIndustrial is looking for an Operations Assistant to join our Saskatoon team. This is a hands-on support role for someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial and manufacturing environment and enjoys keeping information, paperwork, and production activities organized.
This position will work closely with our Operations Manager, Shop Managers, Quality Control, and our Office Administrator. A major part of the role will involve working in our ERP system, Global Shop, and Microsoft Office programs, along with supporting the flow of jobs, documentation, materials, and information through the shop.
Why this role matters
This isn't just an administrative position. The Operations Assistant will play an important part in improving how we plan, schedule, and track work through the shop. One of the first major projects will be helping us get the Advanced Planning and Scheduling functionality in Global Shop working effectively and accurately, and then helping maintain the information behind it.
What You'll Be Doing
- Work extensively within Global Shop ERP to enter, maintain, and update operational and production information.
- Assist Operations and Shop Managers with production planning and scheduling.
- Help implement, maintain, and improve the Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) module within Global Shop.
- Work with Shop Managers to ensure scheduling information, job status, capacity, priorities, and expected completion dates are accurate and kept current.
- Assist with expediting jobs, materials, purchased items, and documentation to help keep production moving.
- Coordinate and maintain job and customer documentation.
- Prepare and organize customs and shipping documentation for applicable shipments.
- Work with Quality Control to coordinate Material Test Reports (MTRs) and supporting quality documentation.
- Use Excel, Word, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications extensively to organize and communicate operational information.
- Follow up with internal departments to ensure required information is completed and entered accurately and on time.
- Help identify opportunities to improve administrative and operational processes.
- Provide general administrative support to the Operations team as required.
What We're Looking For
- Someone who takes initiative and isn't afraid to learn how our operation works.
- Strong computer skills and confidence learning new systems.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Experience working with an ERP/MRP system is strongly preferred. Experience with Global Shop is an asset.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, fabrication, machining, industrial services, or a similar environment would be an asset.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Detail-oriented and accurate, particularly when working with production and quality documentation.
- Comfortable following up with people and getting the information needed to keep jobs moving.
- Able to work well with Shop Managers, QC, purchasing, administration, and other departments.
