Original job description

At eBay, we're more than a global ecommerce leader - we’re changing the way the world shops and sells. Our platform empowers millions of buyers and sellers in more than 190 markets around the world. We’re committed to pushing boundaries and leaving our mark as we reinvent the future of ecommerce for enthusiasts.

Our customers are our compass, authenticity thrives, bold ideas are welcome, and everyone can bring their unique selves to work - every day. We're in this together, sustaining the future of our customers, our company, and our planet.

Join a team of passionate thinkers, innovators, and dreamers - and help us connect people and build communities to create economic opportunity for all.

The Team

eBay's Native Focused Category team builds mobile experiences across key areas of our marketplace, including Parts & Accessories, Vehicles, Fashion, Collectibles, and Electronics. Our team specializes primarily in Parts & Accessories (P&A), developing features that help customers discover and purchase the right parts for their vehicles.

Our work includes experiences like My Garage, personalized parts recommendations, and vehicle-specific shopping features. We're also expanding these experiences into international markets while modernizing our iOS application with SwiftUI.

While P&A is our primary focus, the team also contributes to initiatives across other categories, giving engineers opportunities to work on a variety of customer-facing experiences.

We value curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning. Alongside developing your iOS expertise, you'll have opportunities to explore Android and backend technologies and work with modern AI-assisted development tools.

The Role

As an iOS Software Engineer on the Native Focused Category team, you'll contribute to building and improving features within eBay's core iOS application. You'll work primarily with Swift and SwiftUI, collaborating with experienced native engineers and cross-functional partners to deliver intuitive, reliable mobile experiences.

You'll have the opportunity to independently own well-defined features while contributing to larger initiatives alongside senior engineers. This role is ideal for someone with strong iOS fundamentals who is eager to learn, take initiative, and grow their technical skills in a collaborative environment.

What You Will Accomplish

Develop, test, and maintain customer-facing features within eBay's core iOS application using Swift and SwiftUI.
Contribute to My Garage, parts discovery, personalized recommendations, international expansion, and other Focused Category initiatives.
Independently deliver well-defined features while collaborating with experienced engineers on more complex projects.
Work closely with Product, Design, Backend, and other mobile engineers to translate requirements into polished user experiences.
Integrate with backend services using REST APIs and contribute to reliable, data-driven mobile experiences.
Follow established iOS architectural patterns to write clean, maintainable, and testable code.
Participate in code reviews, debugging, testing, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
Explore AI-assisted development tools and emerging technologies to improve engineering efficiency and code quality.

What You Will Bring

2+ years of professional native iOS development experience.
Strong proficiency in Swift and SwiftUI.
Understanding of common iOS architectural patterns such as MVC and MVVM.
Experience integrating REST APIs and understanding request/response workflows.
Familiarity with asynchronous programming, including Swift concurrency and async/await.
Experience developing, debugging, testing, and maintaining production-quality mobile features.
Ability to independently deliver scoped development tasks while collaborating with more experienced engineers on complex initiatives.
Familiarity with unit testing, code reviews, and modern software development practices.
Interest in using AI development tools thoughtfully and effectively to improve productivity and problem-solving.
Strong communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a willingness to learn and grow.

Nice to Have

Experience with UIKit.
Familiarity with GraphQL.
Exposure to Android or backend development.
Experience working on consumer-facing applications at scale.
Familiarity with dependency management tools such as Swift Package Manager (SPM) or CocoaPods and CI/CD workflows.

Why Join This Team

Meaningful Customer Impact: Build experiences within one of eBay's important marketplace categories, where your work directly influences how customers shop.
Modern iOS Development: Work primarily with SwiftUI while helping evolve an established mobile application.
International Product Exposure: Contribute to features launching and expanding across global markets.
Opportunity to Grow: Learn from experienced engineers while gradually expanding your technical ownership and responsibilities.
Broader Engineering Exposure: Explore Android, backend development, and AI-assisted engineering practices in a team that encourages continuous learning and technical curiosity.
Collaborative Team Culture: Join a supportive engineering team that values initiative, open communication, and continuous improvement.
