Engineers, architects, and other building specialists work collaboratively to meet deadlines, exceed client expectations, and improve the well-being of the communities they serve.

Office buildings, hospitals and research centers, educational institutions, residential buildings, hotels, shopping centers, factories, as well as sports and cultural facilities; our team excels in delivering these complex projects using state-of-the-art tools and an innovative, collaborative approach that places people at the heart of everything we do.

Come build the future with us!

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to lead the design delivery of a single, high-profile Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional (ICI) project delivered within a Design-Build, P3, or alternative delivery environment. This role will be fully dedicated to the successful execution of one project, ensuring seamless design coordination, technical excellence, risk management, and integration between design intent and construction execution.

The Senior Design Manager will serve as the central design authority, working closely with consultants, construction partners, client representatives, owner groups, and internal stakeholders from early design development through construction completion. The successful candidate will bring proven experience delivering large-scale ICI projects and possess a strong understanding of Design-Build and P3 contractual frameworks, governance structures, stakeholder management, and design integration requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead end-to-end design management for a large-scale ICI project, from concept development through construction, within a Design-Build, P3, or alternative delivery framework.
Serve as the primary design point of contact for the client, consultants, construction team, owner representatives, and project consortium partners.
Coordinate and manage architectural and engineering consultants to ensure timely, accurate, and contract-compliant design delivery.
Oversee design submissions, approvals, reviews, and revisions in alignment with project schedules, commercial requirements, and contractual obligations.
Review drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to ensure quality, constructability, compliance, and risk mitigation.
Ensure adherence to applicable building codes, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and project-specific contractual responsibilities.
Identify, manage, and resolve design conflicts, scope gaps, interface issues, and technical risks proactively.
Support construction activities through design clarification, RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, and management of design changes while maintaining design intent.
Collaborate closely with project controls, construction, commercial, procurement, and owner interface teams to support project delivery objectives.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to project team members involved in design coordination and delivery.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
10+ years of experience managing design delivery on large-scale ICI projects.
Demonstrated experience delivering projects through Design-Build, P3, Progressive Design-Build, or other alternative delivery models.
Proven success leading multidisciplinary consultant teams on complex and technically challenging projects.
Experience delivering healthcare, institutional, commercial, transportation, civic, or other major infrastructure facilities.
Strong understanding of ICI construction practices, building systems, design coordination, code compliance, and phased construction environments.
Experience collaborating closely with construction teams from early works through project completion.
Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to navigate complex project environments while balancing technical, commercial, and operational priorities.

Benefits

4 weeks of annual vacation.
Comprehensive group insurance program upon hire.
Group RRSP with employer contribution to a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP).
24/7 access to a virtual healthcare provider (telemedicine).
Training, development, and career advancement opportunities.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
Active social club and health and wellness committee.
Diverse, innovative, and stimulating work environment.
Company built on the values of respect, integrity, collaboration, and a job well done.
Corporate Clothing Program.
Firm recognized as one of Canada's Best Managed Companies.
