EBlock is looking for an Automotive Mechanic to service the Edmonton, AB Omni Channel Auction (located in Nisku, AB). Are you an experienced professional seeking to transition away from the physical demands of a traditional shop environment? If you find fulfillment in resolving complex diagnostic challenges but wish to move past the strains of labour-intensive workflows, flat-rate pressures, and harsh working conditions, this role is tailored for you. We are looking for a candidate who would like to leverage their extensive technical expertise, intuitive problem-solving abilities, and capacity for mentorship.

Hourly pay structure - no flat-rate pressures or rushing through jobs. We compensate you for your accuracy and expertise.

Plus, the work is focused on light mechanical inspections and repairs (brakes, batteries, lights, belts, fluid changes) and offers consistent daytime hours.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm

What You Will Do:

Perform Vehicle Maintenance: change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, transmission flush, and inspection of the vehicle for mechanical deficiencies.
Perform pre- and post-sale mechanical and structural inspections, including road tests.
Diagnose transmission and engine problems onsite and in the field with inspectors.
Based upon certification levels, perform various diagnoses, repairs and maintenance, which may include:
- Mount and balance tires
- Replace bulbs/fuse as needed to complete functionality of the associated system
- Replace drive belts
- Brake repairs on disc brake systems and conventional drum brakes
- Coolant system repairs
- A/C leak test/evacuate and recharge
- Diagnosis and repair of OBD II systems
- Brake components, tires, tune-ups, suspension components
- Electrical systems
- State Safety Inspections
- Interior/exterior components
- Engine and driveline components
- Advanced diagnostics
- Engine/driveline diagnosis and repair
- Parts replacement and some fabrication
Maintain the assigned work area and ensure the shop is clean and tidy at all times. As well as maintaining shop supply inventory.
Perform all assigned work in a safe and conscientious manner.
Multi-task and use company-issued equipment to help answer questions for inspectors in the field.
Handle and dispose of all fluids as defined by MSDS and in accordance with all Federal, State, and local regulations.
Create and maintain vehicle history and maintenance records as defined/directed by management.
Assure prompt repairs by interfacing and coordinating with vendors for parts and repairs. This will include creating estimates and sourcing out and ordering of parts.
Complete road test drives.
Perform other duties at the Omni Channel to support the auctions operations, as assigned by your supervisor.

What You Will Need:

5+ years of relevant experience; Education in Automotive Technology may be substituted in lieu of experience
Red Seal certification (or equivalent provincial Journeyperson certification) as an Automotive Service Technician preferred.
Experience with hybrid, electric vehicle (EV), and advanced propulsion systems (high-voltage safety, battery diagnostics, electric motors, regenerative braking).
Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) calibration, sensor alignment, and repair.
Ability to interpret complex service manuals, schematics, and manufacturer updates.
Knowledge of safe work practices, including hazardous materials handling and refrigerant certification (if performing A/C work).
Structural component and damage knowledge
Ability to use multiple computer/mobile apps in the field on company-issued devices
Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Proven ability to diagnose and repair vehicles. Proficiency with hand tools and other equipment. You must have access to supply your own tools and toolbox.
Excellent listening, problem-solving, and communication skills. Self-motivated, independent, and reliable with a strong work ethic
Ability to stand, walk, reach, talk, and hear. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, and climb. Close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Frequently required to lift/move 11–25 lbs, and occasionally over 50 lbs

The base pay range for this full-time position is $36.00 - $45.00, and this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition, our ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
