Job Description

Senior BIM Modeler – Civil 3D (Utilities, Roads & Surfaces) is a senior-level civil infrastructure modeling position based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The role is responsible for developing, managing, and coordinating complex 2D and 3D BIM models supporting utility, drainage, roadway, grading, and surface infrastructure projects within multidisciplinary engineering environments.

The position supports the delivery of municipal and transportation infrastructure projects through detailed Civil 3D modeling, design coordination, construction documentation, and digital engineering workflows. Responsibilities span underground utility networks, stormwater systems, roadway corridors, grading design, drainage infrastructure, regulatory submissions, and construction-phase support. The role operates within collaborative BIM environments utilizing cloud-based model management and multidisciplinary coordination processes.

The ideal candidate possesses 5–7 years of civil infrastructure modeling experience, advanced expertise in utility and roadway modeling, and demonstrated exposure to complex infrastructure projects requiring compliance with Ontario, Canadian, and transportation-sector design standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Civil 3D models for underground utility infrastructure, including storm drainage systems, sanitary sewers, water distribution networks, culverts, tanks, and catch basins.
  • Produce roadway engineering models including alignments, profiles, corridors, pavement structures, grading plans, and surface models.
  • Manage data shortcuts, drawing references, and model-sharing workflows within Autodesk Construction Cloud and Autodesk Desktop Connector environments.
  • Coordinate BIM deliverables with civil engineering, roadway engineering, drainage, and utility design teams to support integrated infrastructure design.
  • Generate plan, profile, cross-section, and construction documentation packages for regulatory submissions and project delivery.
  • Configure and maintain object styles, label styles, pipe network standards, part lists, and sheet set management processes.
  • Perform clash detection reviews and multidisciplinary coordination involving utilities, drainage systems, pavements, foundations, subgrade conditions, and electrical duct banks.
  • Support regulatory submissions by ensuring model compliance with municipal standards, provincial requirements, OPSD standards, Transport Canada criteria, and ICAO Annex 14 requirements.
  • Maintain model integrity throughout design development, construction phasing, as-built documentation, and project turnover activities.
  • Implement BIM workflow improvements, automation initiatives, and digital delivery enhancements to improve modeling efficiency and consistency.
