Registered Massage Therapist (RMT)Independent Service Provider
EHN Edgewood Nanaimo Treatment Centre
Position Overview
EHN Edgewood Nanaimo Treatment Centre is seeking a qualified Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) to provide professional massage therapy services to patients at our treatment centre.
The RMT will deliver individualized, client-centred care that supports physical wellness, relaxation, stress management, and recovery. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the treatment centre’s clinical team while maintaining professional independence and adhering to all applicable regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess clients’ physical conditions and symptoms through consultation and evaluation.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessments, clinical findings, and client goals.
- Provide a range of massage therapy techniques, including deep tissue, Swedish, sports, trigger point, myofascial release, and relaxation massage, as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and confidential treatment records and progress notes in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
- Educate clients on self-care, post-treatment recommendations, and general wellness practices.
- Collaborate with members of the clinical team and other healthcare providers, as appropriate, to support integrated care.
- Adhere to all applicable hygiene, safety, and infection prevention and control procedures.
- Comply with professional regulatory requirements, applicable legislation, and EHN Canada policies and procedures.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries when working with patients in a residential treatment environment.
- Participate in orientation, training, and other organizational initiatives as required.
- Communicate professionally with patients, staff, and members of the treatment team.
- Identify and communicate any concerns that may affect patient safety or the delivery of services.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Registered Massage Therapist in good standing with the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC).
- Current professional liability insurance.
- Valid CPR and First Aid certification, as applicable.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing physical, mental health, or substance use concerns is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality, professional boundaries, and trauma-informed care.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the treatment centre’s clinical team.
Fees and Payment
- The Registered Massage Therapist is responsible for establishing and setting their own service rates.
- The RMT will retain 100% of the fees collected for services provided.
- The RMT is responsible for supplying and maintaining their own payment processing system or method, such as a debit/credit card machine or electronic payment system.
- EHN Edgewood Nanaimo Treatment Centre will not be responsible for processing payments, collecting fees, or providing payment equipment.
- The RMT is responsible for managing their own invoicing, payment collection, and applicable tax obligations.

- Clientele: Patients receiving residential addiction and mental health treatment.
Important Considerations
The RMT must be comfortable working within a residential treatment environment and adapting services to meet the individual needs and clinical considerations of patients. All services must be provided within the RMT’s professional scope of practice and in accordance with EHN Edgewood Nanaimo’s policies and procedures.
Compensation, scheduling, service frequency, and additional contractual terms will be established through an independent service provider agreement.
