Controller

Our construction client is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Controller to lead their finance operations and manage a team of three. This role offers the chance to expand your expertise, gain hands-on experience with significant ERP transitions, and work directly with the leader of the finance department. You will be instrumental in overseeing accounts payable, approving payments, and managing all month-end, year-end, and quarter-end processes, including financial reporting.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid in Kitchener-Waterloo, ON

Responsibilities:

• Lead all finance operations and manage a team of three.
• Lead complex construction-based finance activities and collaborate closely with construction teams.
• Oversee accounts payable department and approve payments.
• Manage month-end, year-end, and quarter-end processes, as well as all financial reporting.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Partner with senior leaders to provide financial insights and drive strategic decision-making.
• Maintain internal controls and compliance.
• Play a key role in an upcoming ERP transition.

Qualifications:

• CPA Required.
• 7+ years of experience in an accounting or finance department.
• 3+ years managing a team.
• Strong construction experience, including understanding holdbacks is a big asset.
• Experience with ERP transitions and construction ERPs like Sage, Timberline, or Jonas.
